The Porsche 930 Turbo which we are proud to offer for sale, rolled off the line in an era that saw Porsche 962 and Porsche 956 race cars going wheel to wheel at the 24 Hours of LeMans. The top 7 consecutive finishers of the 1986 LeMans race were Porsches, and of the top 10 consecutive finishers, only one car was not a Porsche. As Porsche's racing prowess grew, the cars that were sold for the streets continued to get more and more performance focused. This beautiful Porsche 930 is a perfect example of that. C'mon, this car has a tachometer that has an integrated boost gauge. This car means business!

When this Porsche sat in the Porsche dealer's showroom as a brand new car, it would've been the top of the line offering. This car was sold new by Giganti Porsche of Indianapolis Indiana, as evidenced by the window sticker. Finished in the iconic and poster car color of Guards Red, this gorgeous 930 is a head turner, and an autobahn burner, which is sure to put a huge grin on your face.

This car has been left stock, other than the exhaust, and was extremely well cared for over the years, which we see by looking at the accompanying paperwork and notes. The owners of this car were fastidious in keeping track of maintenance. The maintenance records that we have go back to May of 1987, with the mileage recorded at the time being 5,437. At which point this awesome car was approximately a year old.

The body of the car is in beautiful condition, and the Guards Red paint is bright and glossy throughout. The paint color accentuates the front and rear fender flares. As we walk around the car observing details, we see that the tail lights, turn signals, bumperettes at the rear, rubber bumper “accordions”, and bumper trim are all in great condition. The iconic “whale tail” rear spoiler is in beautiful condition right down to the rubber outer lip and the mesh grilles in between the vents. You will notice that the rear window wiper has been removed, but does come with the vehicle. There are a few small chips in the paint at the front of the car at the leading edge of the hood right near the Porsche crest, and on the lower part of the front bumper. Despite a few stone chips on the car, the exterior areas which commonly show wear on this generation 911 look very nice on this car. Window trim, windshield trim, headlight bezels, fresh air vent, side moldings, bumper moldings, bumperettes, and door handle gaskets are in great condition. A close look through the pictures of the car show all the aforementioned areas and their condition.

One unique thing about this 930 is the red painted Fuchs wheels. It's not quite the “classic look” of black centered Fuchs that was more commonly seen on 911's at the time that the car was sold. The wheels show extremely well, of note are the bright silver polished outer lips, valve stem supports, and chrome center caps. The only modification to the car is the exhaust system that was added, which gives this car a bit more of a growl. The original exhaust components will come with the purchase of the car.

Once in the driver's seat, the familiar 5 gauge layout and Porsche branded steering wheel are among the first things you see. Compared to what we see today, there were not a lot of options available on the 911 Turbo from the factory. Interior options on this car include a sunroof, front heated seats, and a Blaupunkt Monterey stereo. The interior is in beautiful condition, and like the exterior, it is clear that the car was well cared for. Leather seating surfaces show well with very little evidence of wear, and are supple. Door panels are in great condition, and the dashboard is in great condition although there is a small amount of warping near the defrost vents.

At the rear of the car is a 3.3 Liter Turbocharged Flat-6 engine mated to a 4-Speed manual transmission. This car does have the optional Limited Slip Differential as well. The Turbocharged Porsche 911's were known as Widowmakers due to the fact that when the car got higher boost pressure and a driver was a little too heavy on the gas pedal, the car could lose traction and spin. The combination of rear engine, rear wheel drive, and a boost of power were not a good combination for the average driver. There were a number of horrific crashes in which 930 Turbo drivers did not survive to tell the tale of what happened. These cars were sold years before electronic driver aides came into the picture. It's just driver, tarmac, and a powerful machine in this case.

Porsche 930's in the type of condition that this car is in can be elusive. Low original mileage, and finished in the iconic Guards Red, over a black leather interior this car is one that should be particularly interesting to Porsche collectors. Porsche cars were top finishers at LeMans in '86 which was the era that this car was rolling off the production line. This beautiful 930 Turbo should be at the top of the list of cars to add to your collection. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.
