“The K5 Chevy Blazer is the new hot classic SUV” - Hagerty, January 2019

In a 2020 retrospective, Motor Trend commented on the Blazer's role in automotive history: “Would there have been a big-body SUV revolution without the K5 Blazer? It's hard to see Jeep leading the way with the good (but lower-volume) Grand Wagoneer and the Scout was never more than a blip on the sport-utility radar for mainstream buyers. Not even Ford had clued into the potential of pairing pickups and SUVs until a brand with as much clout as Chevrolet took a chance on blazing a trail with the K5. Markets change, and not all the pioneers who start the journey will be there at the end, but the K5 Blazer gave us a family-friendly, off-road-ready tow vehicle for just over two decades. It helped usher in the era of the four-door full-sizers that eventually took over the game.”

Offered here is a 1975 Chevrolet K5 Blazer in tan with “woody” trim (under a black top) over tan. Purchased new at Michael Chevrolet in Morgantown, North Carolina, the SUV has been beautifully refreshed while retaining all the appeal of this classic model. The Blazer's odometer shows 29,628 miles.

The exterior cream beige (code 50) paint is fresh and without flaw: even application, excellent gloss, and no damage whatsoever. The removable fiberglass top is finished in black and is equally pristine. The prominent side trim panel features woodgrain applique. (To best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finish, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The front, egg crate-style grille is complete and undamaged, and the front (with overriders) and rear chrome bumpers are virtually perfect. Cabin glass and lighting lenses (including side-marker lights) are complete, clear, and uncracked. Chrome body trim—including on wheel wells—is in excellent condition across the truck; mirrors, door handles, and headlight trim are likewise free of damage with only very light patina. Emblems—including the “K/5 Blazer” front-fender emblems, gold “bowtie” Chevrolet logo front-grille emblem (and adjacent “454” engine badge), “Cheyenne” rear-fender emblems, and “Chevrolet” lettering on the tailgate's brushed-metal trim—are all present and in as-new condition. Even the “Michael Chevrolet” dealer-added tailgate badge is still present. Cooper® Discovery RTX outline-white-letter 31x10.50 LT tires are mounted on factory steel wheels with chrome trim rings, “4x4” center caps in the rear, and chrome caps in front. The original side mirrors accompany the sale as well.

The interior of the upmarket Cheyenne model is in near-showroom condition. Vertically pleated tan vinyl upholstery covers the foldable front buckets as well as the removable rear bench seat. The vinyl seating surface is fresh and free of wear, discoloration, or damage. Undamaged light-brown trim also covers the cargo-area walls. Door panels are tan with roll-up windows, chrome-trimmed woodgrain panels, and storage pockets. The original bowtie-branded black steering wheel (with column-mounted shift lever for the truck's automatic transmission) frames the perfect-condition, 6-gauge woodgrain instrument cluster. All gauge lenses are clear. The padded dash is tan vinyl, with body-color-painted steel below. Slide-lever controls for heating and air conditioning, the factory AM-FM radio, and a woodgrain panel with “Cheyenne” emblem complete the dash. A storage box is located between the front seats, just aft of the floor-mounted 4-wheel-drive transfer-case selector lever. Floors are covered in damage-and-wear-free brown carpeting, which extends through the cargo area. The paint on the inside of the rear tailgate is unmarred.

Under the hood, the SUV's 365-horsepower, LS5, 454 cubic-inch big-block Chevrolet V8 is in place in a clean, but not overly detailed, engine bay. The engine block retains its Chevrolet-orange paint. Chrome valve covers and an open-sided air cleaner with chrome, 454-branded cover add interest. All components are correctly in place—including air conditioning--with hoses and wiring properly routed. There are no significant aftermarket modifications. Viewed from below, the truck's chassis is complete and undamaged. Only minimal light surface rust is evident on some untreated metal components. The Blazer appears entirely free of body-panel rust.

The Blazer's original build tag remains factory-riveted in place.

While the more than 140 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '75 Blazer in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

With the market-wide interest in these capable trucks running so hot, finding a second-generation, well-optioned Blazer Cheyenne in nearly showroom condition is no easy task. Fortunately for the next owner, we already took care of the hard work.
