Before the Firebird with the 'Screaming Chicken' on the hood was the first generation Firebird, like the car you see here. Styling was simpler and a little more subdued than the Firebirds that prominently displayed a feathered creature on the hood. While we love all generations of Firebird, there is just something about the first generation cars that is slightly more appealing. We are excited to have a beautiful first generation Firebird convertible like this one in our showroom.

Originally Verdoro Green when it left the Lordstown Ohio Assembly Plant, this clean Firebird is now finished in a much brighter Carousel Red, which was also a color offered on the '69 Firebird's color option palette. Pointed nose, dual vents in the bulged hood, horizontal vents in the front fenders, and a rear spoiler are slight hints that this car is not just a base model Firebird Convertible. Another great option on this brightly colored bird is the hood mounted tach. This is such a clever feature, and one that does not scream, 'hey look at me' - it blends right in with the bulges and vents in the hood. Looking over the rest of the exterior, it is evident that great care was taken to make sure that the fitment of all the panels, trim, and lighting were dialed in just right.

Finished to a high standard, the Parchment interior provides some contrast from the Carousel Red exterior. Bucket seats take center stage, while a wood trimmed center console houses the gear selector for the TH400 transmission. A stereo consisting of a Custom Autosound head-unit and cleverly installed aftermarket speakers pump out the tunes. Looking past the wood rimmed, three spoke steering wheel we see a pair of clean, clear gauges.

Under the hood in a tidy engine bay is a 'WZ' coded 400ci V8 mated to a TH400 transmission. The 'WZ' coded engine is a “High Output” engine offering 330 horsepower, a 4 BBL carburetor, and high compression (10.75:1). The engine also features an Edelbrock intake manifold and newer MSD plug wires.

If the 'Screaming Chicken' styling of the later Firebirds isn't your thing, take into consideration this First Generation Firebird to add to your garage. With a great color combination, a High Output engine, and timeless styling, a classic American car like this is sure to brighten up your collection.
