2002 Audi TT Roadster

“…few (cars) have had more visual wattage than the Audi TT, and fewer still—dare we say, none? —have retained their head-turning quotient to the degree this car has.” – Car & Driver

Car enthusiasts who walk displays at auto shows have all experienced it: the sense that however stunning, concept cars will never make it to the street looking anywhere near as cool. Well, that all came to an end in the spring of 1995 at the Frankfurt Auto Show when Audi debuted its ground-breaking sports car, the Audi TT. And then promptly brought it to dealer showroom floors looking much as it did under the bright lights in Frankfurt. The design—created by ateam including J Mays, Freeman Thomas, and Peter Schreyer (all of whom have become legendary figures in their discipline)—was unlike anything seen before. And it wasn't just the car's striking exterior. Every part inside the car—from cup holders to air vents to aluminum radio cover-plate—was formed from the same Bauhaus design ethic. This was a true home run.

Unfortunately, change can sometimes diminish, even as it aims to improve. As automotive writer, Colin Ryan put it not long ago, “As the Audi TT moves into its third generation, the first (code-named 8N) still has a purity of design, an integrity where subsequent face-lifts would only stray from the original point and lessen the impact.”

Here from Garage Kept Motors is the antidote to lost TT impact. Indeed, this particular Audi TT 2-seater is almost magical. It is literally as close to brand new as you're likely to find, even if you search the most distant corners of the internet. While those searches may turn up any number of higher-mileage, hard-driven and, yes, less expensive cars, don't confuse any of them with this genuinely like-new TT.
It's total mileage is below what most leases allow for a single year, and well under 1,000 miles per year overall. The next owner will inherit this car from its original purchaser (and if desired, we'll be happy to make the personal introduction) and will include service records and the original window sticker.

This is a case where pictures (including one of the window sticker) really do pretty much tell the story, so be sure to take a good look at the 188 photos on the GarageKeptMotors website. Try to find even a hint of wear, tear, or even a blemish. (We couldn't, either!) TT shoppers already know the powertrain characteristics: transversely mounted 4-cylinder, 5-valve, turbocharged 180-horsepower front-wheel drive engine, 5-speed manual transmission, electronic stability program (ESP) and anti-slip regulation (ASR) included. The interior is exceptional with no issues. Even the dash and radio pixels are perfect. Optioned with Bose® audio and a premium package including heated leather seats, Xenon headlights, Homelink® garage-door transmitter, and 17-inch wheels, the car offers amenities that make it easy to live with.

So, let's imagine it's 2002. You're at your Audi dealer waiting to cast your first glance on the silver-over-black-leather Audi TT roadster you've ordered. As the car appears, your excitement meter hits “eleven.” It's as beautiful as its numerous awards—including being named to Car & Driver's “Ten Best” list in 2000 and 2001—promised. Wow.

Now stop imagining; this Audi TT is right here at Garage Kept Motors… waiting for you.
