Garage Kept Motors is pleased to offer this clean and highly original 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This California two-door hardtop coupe was originally purchased by Ray Smith through Rally Chevrolet of Lancaster, CA. Smith was an All-American Fullback for UCLA and soon after purchasing this Monte, he moved to Holland, Michigan where he coached the football team at Hope College for 25 years, becoming the winningest coach in MIAA conference history. After coaching, he became the college's Athletic Director until 2009. A decorated athlete, college coach, and athletic director bought this car new.

Our client, the second owner, purchased the car from Smith in 1974, and has owned it ever since. In 2006, he has a local mechanic/classic car restorer, Herb Howes, completely restore the car from top to bottom. During the restoration, Mr. Howes confirmed it has a numbers matching block and transmission He also finished the car in the factory original paint scheme. We have photos and receipts of the entire process. The fit and finish on this car, as well as its drivability, is excellent.

The car is painted in the factory Astro Blue (25) paint over Dark Blue Prima Cloth (767) interior trim. It is powered by the original 350ci/300hp V8 motor with a column-shifted automatic transmission. The car features power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, and functioning factory AC. It comes with the original owners manual, original sales paperwork, original warranty information, and even the original Protect-O-Plate with original owner Ray Smith's information. You don't find that often on a 1970 Chevrolet.

The car runs and drives extremely well. Less than a 1,000 miles have been driven on the car since the restoration. During the restoration, a mild cam and shift kit were installed, the rear-end was beefed up, and new Cragar chrome wheels were installed for better look and performance. Less than a 1,000 miles have been driven on the car since. All the original parts are available with the car, including the original hub caps and wheels. It is a gorgeous example and with all known ownership history, this is an amazing example at the price offered here. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors. Call if interested or e-mail with any questions. Thank you for looking.
