The Dodge Charger has been a fixture in movie chase scenes for decades and rightfully so. Think about it, what would the movie Bullitt be without the menacing Black Charger in the chase scene? Or can you imagine any other car tearing up the backroads of Hazzard County? Let's face it there is a reason well beyond product placement that Vin Diesel's character Dominic Torreto continuously chooses the iconic Dodge Charger as his go-to build for his on-screen action antics in the ongoing Fast and Furious franchise. Simply put, the Dodge Charger is truly Bad Ass and perfectly cast as a co-star in these movies! In stock form, these cars have a muscularity about them in their design and just look fast sitting still, but if there was any question if these cars are just “all show and no go” their persona is verified by their racing reputation in NASCAR and NHRA. The 1970 Dodge Charger featured here for sale is a perfect example of the performance potential of this iconic Mopar muscle car.

This Charger has been recently repainted in the factory Dodge Burnt Orange metallic hue. The finish is well applied over professionally executed bodywork that has been polished to a deep luster. The rear deck is accented with a white factory “bumble bee” stripe and the hood features the correct “six-pack” hood scoop that hints at the monster mill sitting below it. The front grille is blacked out and features the optional hideaway headlights the rear taillight panel is blacked out as well. The chrome bumpers and related stainless body moldings have been restored and polished to a brilliant shine. A set of polished aluminum American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are wrapped in a set of raised white letter Road Hugger Radial G/T tires adding a timeless Day Two look to this Charger.

Inside the black interior has been lightly restored with new seat upholstery, carpet, and front and rear panels. The bucket seats straddle a factory console that has been upgraded with a B&M Z-Gate shifter. A factory deluxe steering wheel with faux wood rim sits atop the steering column that has a DynamiK Monster tach with shift light mounted on it continuing the subtle Day Two theme to this Mopar. The dash features factory gauges to monitor the engine vitals including a 160 MPH speedometer and tachometer with center mounted clock, and an additional mechanical oil pressure gauge mounted under the dash. The factory radio was clearly updated some time ago as an aftermarket AM/FM radio with cassette tape and a built-in equalizer has been installed. The rear trunk space is clean and features the correct vinyl houndstooth trunk floor mat.

The original 318cid V8 mill has been replaced with a 440cid V8 topped with a factory “Six-Pack”, a 3X2 carburetor setup. The correct factory air cleaner seals up to the factory hood taking in massive amounts of cold dense outside air. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and presents well with a set of fabricated aluminum valve covers. A pair of large tube headers helps this big motor breathe, and a vacuum canister helps build the engine vacuum to operate the power brake booster all subtle indications this motor is “not quite stock”. Finally, an aluminum radiator has been installed to keep this high-powered mill ice-cold. Power is transferred through a 727 Torgue-Flite 3-speed automatic transmission equipped with a 2400 rpm stall converter back to the Dana rear differential.

Underneath the floorboards and sub-frame were lightly treated with rubber undercoating and are free of any rust damage. The mechanicals have all been gone through with all new steering components and linkage and features factory power steering. The front torsion bar suspension has been rebuilt and a heavy-duty front stabilizer bar was installed. The brakes have been upgraded to vacuum-assisted power four-wheel disc brakes A custom dual exhaust with H-pipe flows through Flowmaster mufflers with tailpipes that exit out the rear adorned with chrome tips. The exhaust has a deep rumble at idle, that is throaty when under power, but for those who want a little more roar, a set of electric cutouts can be activated to bypass the mufflers for a full open exhaust.

This Dodge Charger is simply stunning and is sure to turn heads as it idles into your local cruise-in gatherings.
