Featured here is a very clean 1962 Chevrolet Impala. Overall, this car is in stock condition, however, subtle upgrades have been made to make this vintage Chevy a perfect car to get out and drive. This car has been under the same ownership for the last 7 years, with most of the mechanical improvements made within the last 6,000 miles.

Painted in the factory white, the finish presents very well with a nice luster, and only a few minor chips and blemishes that frankly are difficult to discern. The factory chrome bumpers are well maintained with only some very light patina present, and all the factory stainless body moldings and trim are present. The correct Super Sport emblems were added and accurately placed, and this Impala features a rear-mounted antenna. The steel wheels are painted red which provides a nice highlight that ties into the red interior. These wheels are wrapped in modern Hankook radial black wall tires with stock Chevrolet knock-off wheel covers that give this Chevy a classic period look.

Inside the red interior is clean and well preserved with original upholstery and door panels while the carpet has been replaced. Seat belts were not standard equipment in 1962, however, a modern set of matching seat belts have been installed in the front and rear for improved passenger safety. The dash is a throwback to when cars were designed to not just be a piece of transportation, but a true exercise in design and is a true piece of art. This car features factory air conditioning and the radio has been upgraded to a Custom AutoSound AM/FM/ with AUX output that looks near stock in the dash. The driver and passengers can cruise in cool comfort as they listen to their favorite road tunes on a warm summer's day drive!

Under the hood the 283cid V8 was treated to a full rebuild with the cylinders bored over 0.030 adding a little extra overall CID to this era-correct powerplant. The radiator was upgraded to an HD aluminum radiator to help keep things cool under the hood on long drives or when caught in traffic. Close attention was given to the reassembly to detail the engine compartment which presents very well. The factory 2-speed GM Powerglide transmission was replaced with a GM 200- 4R 4-speed automatic transmission that makes this Chevrolet more fun to drive under acceleration and cruise with comfort at high speeds.

Underneath the steering and suspension have been gone through. This Impala features power steering and much of the steering components have been replaced including the pitman arm, steering arm, drag link, and tie rods. New springs and gas shocks were installed on all four corners with any bushings replaced as needed on reassembly. The brakes were updated to power front disc brakes and the complete brake system has been serviced including new rear brake lines. A new gas tank has been installed along with a complete dual exhaust with high-performance mufflers. The frame and floorboards have been treated to a light undercoating and there does not appear to be any indications of any rust through concerns beyond some light surface rust.

Chevrolet Impalas of this era are popular with hot rodders and low rider enthusiasts, so you rarely see one in stock condition such as this example. These cars look amazing when tastefully modified, but let's not forget what made them popular was the timeless styling of these vehicles that motivated new car buyers in 1962 to “See the USA in their Chevrolet”. This original car will be sure to turn heads wherever you cruise, and with all the mechanical upgrades you will cruise with confidence and comfort.
