1972 is the final year for the chrome bumper C3 generation cars, and this car in particular is a beautiful example of a chrome bumper C3 generation Vette. The car has been well maintained, and includes the original window sticker, a NCRS Certificate, and the Protect O Plate. Finished in the factory correct color of Steel Cities Gray (code 988), which is an interesting name for a vehicle color, particularly a Corvette, this car is easy on the eyes. It's a beautiful color that has a touch of blue in it, which gives this metal bumper, early '72 production Corvette an upscale, elegant, and slightly understated look. Because of the unique color, the curves of the body look slightly softer than those of a car painted in a brighter color like red. All of the chrome trim and bumpers really pop in contrast to the gray paint, and the wheels with their chrome hubcaps and chrome beauty rings seem to have more depth. The exterior paint shows even gloss, and depth throughout, and body panels line up as they should. T-tops, which come with storage bags, give occupants the chance to have the cabin open more so than a standard coupe.

A low seating position in the car affords you a great view of the well kept interior in this Vette. “Custom Interior Trim” is among the few options that this car rolled off the line with, yet it really made a difference in the look of the car. The custom interior trim consisted of leather seating surfaces, wood grain panels on the doors and dashboard, and different carpeting than standard. The car is currently finished in the factory correct Black trim (code 404) which shows well other than peeling wood trim, and some cracking showing on the leather seats. However, the dash pad, interior plastic trim, and carpeting, are in very nice condition, and the gauge faces are all clear and easy to read.

Three pedals in the driver's footwell is what we like to see in a car like this, and this Corvette has just that. Shifting through the gears in a car like this, and hearing the sound of the V8 under the bulged hood is sublime. Speaking of the V8 under the hood, the engine is a 350ci V8 that has a few tasteful aftermarket goodies added to the mix. Edelbrock performance heads, and an Edelbrock intake manifold work in conjunction with a Holley carburetor. Polished valve covers and a chrome air cleaner help to dress the engine bay up a little.

Finished in an understated and elegant color of Steel Cities Gray, this car is a treat for the eyes. It offers t-tops, just the right amount of chrome trim, a V8 mated to a 4-speed transmission, and some great documentation. This is a special car that has been well cared for, and tastefully upgraded. There is a slim chance of running into another C3 generation Corvette at your local cars and coffee or cruise that is finished in this particular color combination, or as well maintained as this chrome bumper car.
