Rumor has it that the idea of a rear wheel drive Gallardo came from the famed Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni, who had grown tired of the use of all wheel drive in past Gallardo model years. Yes, all wheel drive provides sure footedness, but for those who prefer, and can handle, a 500-plus horsepower rear wheel drive car, the concept of a rear wheel drive Gallardo was very appealing. At the rear of this Gallardo is a 550 horsepower, 5.2 Liter V10 engine which is connected to the e-gear 6-speed sequential transmission. Lightning fast shifts with each pull of a paddle is part of the experience and character of the Gallardo. It's common knowledge that the fast shifting gearboxes are known for sounding as if they're breaking thanks to such aggressive shifts in the sportier modes offered by the car. The shape of the car is unmistakable, and though the basic shape is a wedge, like many Lamborghini designs of the past, the use of other angular lines when it comes to lights, air intakes, and grilles sets this Gallardo apart. The car is finished in White with horizontal side stripes on either side of the car, and a stripe on the hood. The stripes of course include the colors of the Italian flag and give the car a competitive feel. Compared to a darker color, the white paint shows the angular styling of the car well. The paint itself is in beautiful condition, showing even gloss throughout. Lamborghini's “Cassiopeia” wheels are finished in black, and between the spokes of the wheels, the large brake calipers and rotors are visible.

A graceful entrance into the car may come with time and experience, but that is to be expected with an exotic car like this one. Once inside the car, the interior is a comfortable place to be. Lamborghini made sure that the interior is luxurious, and that there is plenty of leather trim surrounding occupants. In fact, the leather trim includes pillow stitch inserts on the seats, door cards, and the headliner. The yellow stitching found on the seats is carried over on the dashboard, which gives a little bit of contrast to the yards of black leather. The interior shows nicely, with the only area that shows a bit of wear being the driver's side outer seat bolster. Switches and controls are within reach, and all of the gauges are within easy view of the driver.
