Perhaps one of the most identifiable cars of the late 60's era is the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28. These wildly popular cars have a timeless styling that by the end of the run of the 1st generation Camaro had really come into its own as the decade grew to a close. Garage Kept Motors is proud to feature this very clean and lightly resto-modified car for sale.

This Camaro has been repainted in the correct code 57 Fathom Green with white rally stripes and the cowl tag verifies this is an original Z-28 with the correct option code X77. This car has undergone a full restoration and the paint was well applied over professionally executed bodywork. The finish was polished to a high gloss and aside from a few chips really presents well. The correct front chin spoiler and functioning rear deck spoiler are in place along with the correct steel cowl induction hood. The trunk is clean and has been lightly detailed and the floor is solid with the factory houndstooth vinyl floor mat present along with the correct bumper jack accessories and rally wheel spare tire. The factory Rally Wheels with chrome center caps and trim rings sets of the clean factory look of this vintage Pony Car.

Inside the black interior is clean and very original. The correct RPO code 712 Black custom front bucket seats are present, and the seat upholstery shows little wear and is free of any rips or tears. Door panels are in very good condition and appear original as does the headliner showing some pulls in the seams. The carpet was replaced, and a set of custom carpeted floor mats are in place. Nicely optioned this Z-28 features the correct AC Delco 120 MPH speedometer and in dash Tachometer separated by a factory clock. The factory console features the gauge pod with voltmeter, temperature, fuel and oil pressure gauges and an additional mechanical temperature gauge has been added to monitor coolant temps. The console frames a Hurst manual shifter. The factory AM/FM radio is still present powering 4-way speakers; front mounted kick panel speakers and rear deck mounted factory speakers. This car appears to have been optioned with the rear window De-Fog option, with the dash switch and rear vent present, however the blower motor is missing.

Under the hood is very clean and the engine modifications are subtle. The engine and front lamp harnesses are new pieces, the coolant and heater hoses sport the correct GM part numbers and markings along with the correct tower clamps and the engine is topped with the correct cowl induction air cleaner. That is where factory restoration deviates some. In the place of the original 302 V8 sits a 383cid stroker motor, topped with a Holley Carburetor, GM Performance Bow Tie dual plane aluminum intake and a set of GM Performance aluminum cylinder heads. The combustion mixture is lit by an MSD distributor and wires, with a GM Performance “Z28 embossed” ignition control box. The exhaust flows through a set of long tube headers into a 2.5” Pypes Exhaust system with high flowing cross flow muffler that flows into factory style tailpipes. This high flowing exhaust also features electronic cut outs allowing open header performance at the flick of a switch.

Underneath the factory subframe has been stiffened up with subframe connectors and the floorboards are clean and free of rust. The steering is manual but as a Z-28 features the correct factory power disc brakes upfront with rear drums. All the brake lines (both steel and rubber) and emergency brake cables have been replaced. As part of the restoration the suspension was gone through and the front stabilizer bar was upgraded to a thicker unit. To provide some rear height adjustment a set of rear air shocks were installed as well.

This Z-28 is sure to turn some heads at the local cruise night or cars and coffee event. With the 4-speed manual transmission and throaty exhaust it will take all the self-control you have to not continually make full throttle runs through the gears. A former participant in the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour this Camaro is reliable and turnkey ready for some weekend drives. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions.
