The electric vehicle market is ever evolving, with new innovative ideas and approaches to everyday vehicles. Rivian is now a household name, and is a company which offers vehicles that they claim are made for the planet. Being environmentally conscious seems to be important to the company. Rivian advertises the R1S as, “On road comfortable. Off-road capable.” Their product line is becoming more broad, from the R1T pickup truck to the R1S like you see here, Rivian even offers fleets of electric vehicles, and commercial electric vehicles, but that's not why you're here. You're here to get information about this stunning 2022 Launch Green R1S Launch Edition.

Offered here is the newest vehicle from Rivian's attractive product line, the R1S. It's a handsome SUV finished in Launch Green Paint over a gray interior. It's got all the top of the line Rivian “bells and whistles” that will keep you going back for more. The Launch Green Paint is a slightly lighter shade of green than the Forest Green paint currently offered on the Adventure package. The Launch Edition vehicles are no longer available, and are essentially a special edition of the R1S. Launch Edition vehicles are the only R1S vehicles that will come with the “Launch Green” paint and Launch badged interior. As a Launch Edition, this R1S also comes with the Premium Adventure Package, a larger battery pack, and the upgraded 22” “Sport Bright” wheels.

As we mentioned earlier, the Launch Edition is equipped with the Premium Adventure package, which offers some nice interior options. Essentially it's the top of the line interior, which has heated and cooled vegan leather seating surfaces, chilewich floor mats, wood accents, and the Elevation audio system from Meridian. In addition to all that, other features include a heated steering wheel, recycled microfiber headliner, forest edge ashwood trim, yellow accents, rear seat climate control, and 2 large sunroofs. Plenty of seating for passengers comes in the form of a 3 row seating configuration which offers a 40/20/40 folding middle row seat, which gives easy access to the third row, and plenty of options to fold the seats for more cargo room. As you would expect from a modern SUV there are plenty of storage cubbies and cup holders, as well as personal device charging locations, and even a removable Bluetooth speaker. Controls for things like ride characteristics, sound system settings, navigation, climate control, and even a car wash mode can be found in the center screen on the dashboard.

Thanks to the absence of a torque band like a combustion engine, the electric cars on the market are quite quick, and this R1S is no different. Despite its size this vehicle is capable of a 0-60 time of just over 3 seconds. As car enthusiasts, we find that pretty amazing. Being in the vehicle and feeling a vehicle as big as this go that fast is a unique feeling. No noise, no torque steer, no drama, yet you feel your eyeballs being pushed back into your head, and your internal organs being squished together. But it's all in good fun. The acceleration capability is thanks to quad electric motors (one at each wheel), which have a slightly different power rating from the front to back motors. The front motors each have 415 horsepower and 413 lb/ft of torque, while the rear motors 420 horsepower, and 495 lb/ft of torque. Keep in mind that a 2018 Porsche Carrera 4S has 420 horsepower from its (one) twin turbocharged 6 cylinder engine. Rivian claims the combination of the motors give this big unit handling and acceleration capabilities of a sports car. Rivian also mentions that it's capable of towing 7,700 lbs, and can climb a 100% grade thanks to 14.9” of ground clearance at the highest setting. This particular R1S has the upgraded battery pack which is said to offer up to 321 miles of range from a full charge.

This handsome R1S is a great package with lots to offer. The powerplant(s) is much different than an internal combustion powered vehicle's power plant, but the styling and interior accouterments are the same that you would find in a nice luxury vehicle.
