The 2nd Generation Ford Broncos produced from 1978-1979 are highly capable off-road vehicles featuring more luxury options than the previous versions of the Bronco making these very popular among enthusiasts. These early SUVs were sought after by the off-road community and driven hard making the availability of unmolested, well-kept examples difficult to find in the condition of the Ford Bronco featured here.

This 1979 Ford Bronco features black paint applied over straight bodywork. The paint shines with a nice luster and the chrome bumpers, chrome grille, and stainless trim are all part of the upgraded XLT option package and these pieces still retain a nice brilliance. Other exterior features include a fiberglass roof painted body color and swing outside stainless mirrors.

The red interior makes for a striking combination with the black exterior. The interior has been lightly restored with new fabric inserts sewn into the original seat upholstery and new carpet has been installed. Another feature of the XLT package is the simulated wood trim featured on the dash and door panels along with the simulated leather-wrapped steering wheel. The dash pad is showing some signs of sun damage including a split in the padding and the dash overall presents with some light wear on the knobs and trim. The dash is equipped with factory gauges including oil pressure, coolant temp, and voltage and power rear window switch. This truck originally featured air conditioning and cruise control; however, these are not functional at this time. The dash also has a Sanyo AM/FM Cassette player mounted in it.

Under the hood, the 400 V8 presents well and has had several recent maintenance items addressed involving the replacement of the alternator, battery, and ignition tune-up including wires, distributor cap, and spark plugs. The carburetor has been upgraded with an Edelbrock carburetor and inline fuel filter and the ignition coil has also been converted to an Accel high-performance unit. Power is transferred to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission through the manual shift dual-range transfer case with locking front hubs. Underneath the Bronco chassis and suspension is still all original and unrestored with some recent maintenance to four-wheel disc brakes including new calipers, brake lines, master cylinder, and power brake booster. The XLT option includes front and rear stabilizer bars which are still present and an aftermarket auxiliary fuel tank has been added by previous ownership. The vehicle height is slightly enhanced with a set of oversized Cooper Discoverer AT3 Radial tires (size 255/70R16) mounted on a set of 16” Eagle Alloy rims.

This is a very sharp Bronco ready for some great cruising, be it around town or on some local two tracks. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thanks for looking.
