Garage Kept Motors is very excited to showcase this 1971 Chevrolet C10 that was built by the famed Martin Brothers Customs out of Johnson City, Texas. The Martin Brothers shop is the focus of the popular Motor Trend TV show, Iron Resurrection, and this truck build was featured on the first episode of season three, “Thundering C10”. This like all the Martin Brothers work is an amazing custom build.

This truck features a well-executed blue patina finish that is largely based on the condition the body was found in before the build began. The shop repaired some minor rust in the cab corners and rocker panels as well as performing some subtle modifications including relocating the gas cap and adding custom exhaust outlets in the bed quarters on the otherwise solid southern body. The bed floor was raised to accommodate a modified chassis and air ride suspension with custom fabricated oversize wheel wells to fit over the monstrous 24 X 15 rims and narrowed differential. The custom metal fabrication features the Martin Brothers logo and cleverly conceals access panels to the air compressors and fuel tank which has been relocated to the rear of the truck. Minor dents from the truck's previous work life were tastefully retained to maintain the weathered look. The finish has been artistically blended and matched to the remaining paint and clear coated to maintain the authentic aged patina look. The lighting has been upgraded to LED lights all around with halogen headlights. The grill surrounding stainless was polished and a new grill was installed. All the glass has been replaced with new pieces including weatherstripping.

The interior continues the tasteful resto/mod while maintaining the factory vibe. The interior features a custom bench seat with detailed stitching in saddle leather upholstery. The custom door panels, dash pad, and custom center console are covered in matching saddle leather. Custom brown carpet and floor mats complete the interior. The center console features dual air gauges to monitor the air ride suspension, and side vent outlets for the custom Vintage Air A/C & heating system. Further details include custom machined cup holders and a one-off shifter boot ring that frames the Lokar floor shifter. A Flaming River tilt steering column is topped by a custom polished aluminum steering wheel wrapped in saddle leather matching the interior upholstery. The stock dash holds a Dakota Digital Instrument gauge cluster that monitors the engine vitals. A Kenwood AM/FM stereo with CD/Bluetooth/XM/AUX input powers a Kicker Audio speaker system with custom front kick panel speakers and a sub-woofer system wrapped in saddle leather.

Under the hood sits a Chevrolet 6.2 Supercharged LSA crate motor. The engine compartment is highly detailed with hand-formed metal fabrication including enlarged wheel wells to fit the 20 X 9 front wheels, custom firewall, radiator shroud, and coolant tank and supercharger cover. A set of Porter hood hinges further clean up the engine compartment. An aluminum radiator keeps this hot setup running cool and a custom air inlet draws in cooler outside air.

Underneath this truck has been treated to a brand new custom Choppin' Block chassis with narrowed front and rear end and rides on a full AVS air ride suspension system. Willwood hydramatic four-wheel disc brakes control the braking and this truck has been upgraded to a power rack and pinion steering. Power from the 6.2 V8 is transferred through a 4L85-E GM transmission to a narrowed Ford 9” rear end.

Needless to say, this is a very detailed and well-executed build by a shop with an excellent reputation that adds a level of provenance to this truck. This well-sorted truck is amazing to drive with no shortage of power and it will be sure to draw a crowd wherever it goes. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions.
