Unlike a standard pickup truck, the Ford Ranchero is a coupe utility that was adapted from a two-door station wagon platform and integrated a cab and cargo bed. Produced by Ford between 1957 and 1979, a total of 508,355 units were produced during the model's production run. Over its lifespan it was variously derived from full-sized, compact, and intermediate automobiles sold by Ford for the North American market. The original Ranchero sold well enough to spawn a competitor from General Motors in 1959, the Chevrolet El Camino. The Ranchero was the first postwar American vehicle of its type adapted from a popular sedan from the factory. It combined the sleek looks of a sedan with the utility of a light-duty pickup truck.

As part of the second generation, the Ranchero became much smaller, based on Ford's compact Falcon model. The popularity of small, economical cars like the Volkswagen Beetle perpetuated a shift from thinking among the three largest American manufacturers. Ford believed the market wanted a more practical vehicle, one much smaller, lighter, and cheaper than a full-sized pickup truck, and indeed the Ranchero sold well in this incarnation.

Available here is a resto-mod 1962 Ford Ranchero. Sporting a beautiful candy tangerine paint, this truck is absolutely stunning. With minimal trim and exterior accents, the large chrome Boyd Coddington wheels compliment the unique paint and classic lines of this pickup truck. In addition, this Ranchero has been updated to include side exit exhaust and a custom cargo bed cover.

Powering this truck is a 302ci V8 engine that has been paired with an automatic transmission. The engine compartment is car show ready and includes a custom under-hood panel that has a Ranchero logo emblazoned on it. The chassis appears as well-kept as the engine compartment and has updated rear suspension to accommodate the large Mickey Thompson rear tires. Included in the sale are the original owner's manual as well as various documentation detailing some of the modifications that this vehicle has been equipped with.

To match the custom exterior, this Ranchero also has a custom tan and black interior. Inside the cab, you will find leather wrapped bucket seats and black suede door panels. The original dash is very well taken care of and sports the original gauges alongside a wooden steering wheel and additional gauges for tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature and voltage.

Classic trucks continue to hold their value and remain popular among collectors. What is great about this portion of the market is that there is no disrespect for trucks that have been modified or trucks that have retained their stock stature. We are excited to offer this modified Ranchero and hope that its next owner shares this enthusiasm. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions.
