Someone took the German phrase “macht schnell” (hurry up) very seriously when developing the beautiful Mercedes Benz AMG GT-R. This is a car that can certainly “hurry up” when necessary! Top of the line Mercedes Benz sport coupes through the years have always consisted of timeless styling, luxurious interiors, and potent engines. The 300SL Gullwing, the 300SLR, SLR McLaren, and now the GT-R are legends, and what many consider automotive royalty. This car is an incredible sport coupe as it comes from the factory, but RENNTech components have found their way onto the car, pushing the power output to an estimated 671 horsepower.

As many exotic cars do, this car looks like it's going 100mph when sitting still. Every angle of this car is pleasing to the eye, and nearly every angle consists of some component that is carbon fiber. Styling cues from past Mercedes Benz sports coupes are visible, with the unmistakable three-point star being the focal point at the front of the car. The color on the car is paint, not a wrap, it is finished in Designo Selenite Gray Magno paint which has a full paint protection film applied over top. Carbon Fiber is a recurring item throughout the exterior, with some carbon fiber not visible. The visible carbon fiber pieces are in the form of carbon fiber front lip, carbon fiber side strakes in the front fender, carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber door sill inserts, carbon fiber rear diffuser, and carbon fiber rear spoiler. The wheels are finished in black and are forged aluminum, in the sizes of 19” in the front and 20” in the rear. Large gold finished brake calipers are easily seen between the spokes of the wheels.

A luxurious interior is all part of the package with this car. Comfortable bucket seats, dry carbon fiber trim, a digital gauge cluster, suede trim, and a grippy flat bottom steering wheel wrapped in suede are the main points in the interior. Technology and infotainment is a large part of the interior. In addition to navigation, Apple CarPlay, and XM Radio, the car also has Lane Tracking and blind spot assist. The infotainment system also displays things like vehicle telemetry, lateral and linear g's, horsepower, and engine fluid levels and temps. Multiple driving modes known as AMG Dynamics are available to the driver and consist of Comfort, Sport, Sport +, Race, and Slippery. Put simply, the Dynamics modes have varying degrees of assistance from the vehicle and its available technology.

Under the hood is a twin turbocharged 4.0 Liter V8 mated to a 7 Speed transmission, which from the factory pumps out 577 horsepower. As we mentioned earlier, a RENNTech tune and a few choice RENNTech components have been added, which are said to bump the power up to 671 horsepower. With that kind of power, it feels like you're tearing through the atmosphere upon hard acceleration. RENNTech turbochargers, downpipes, diverter valves, air filters, and an ECU upgrade were installed by a German Automobile specialist shop. High performance brake lines and a Fi exhaust system were also added. As you would expect, large amounts of technology are a part of this car. One interesting bit of technology is rear wheel steering, which gives an advantage in higher speed turns. The suspension consists of forged aluminum components which are part of the car's AMG Adaptive suspension system. Electronic limited slip differential, dynamic transmission and engine mounts, AMG Traction control, and a high performance compound braking system which consists of carbon ceramic rotors are just a few of the advanced features of this car.

You can experience this Autobahn burner for yourself. It's a beautiful car with a great combination of technology, luxury, good looks, and power. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.
