We're not sure if we know what a bone stock Willys coupe looks like. Plenty of variations of the 41 Willys are cruising the streets, and making passes down dragstrips all across the country. For an early '40's car, the Willys had a shape that was slightly unique in a few aspects compared to other vehicles on the road at the time. Plenty of curves are always pleasing to the eye, but add the unique sloping rear of the car and split back window and you've got a vehicle to really admire. Restrained use of chrome on the original cars, save for the vertical slatted grille, made these cars stand out among the rest.

What goes better with a curvy car than black paint? Black paint accentuates every curve, and makes vehicles that have nice black paint jobs look incredible. In our opinion, this black '41 Willys looks gorgeous. The side trim has been deleted, trunk, doors, and hood have been smoothed, and custom tail lights have been added. Chrome wheels were an excellent choice for this Willys, they really pop next to the glossy black paint. The 15” American Racing 5 spoke chrome wheels are wrapped in some sticky tires. Of note are a few areas around the windshield and rear decklid where there are small cracks in the paint. Tasteful pinstriping which matches the interior pinstriping has been added at the rear of the car.

A comfortable cabin is a must in a street rod like this Willys. The leather seats look to have been removed from a late model GM SUV, and the roof console also looks to be a product of a late model GM SUV or truck. Dark red carpeting provides a nice contrast to the black dashboard and light colored seats and door panels. A roll bar which is painted black is nicely integrated in the interior.

Under the bullet shaped hood is a 427ci V8 mated to a 700 R4 Transmission. The engine is a Dart block that has been bored and stroked, and is fed by a Holley carburetor. A Ford 9” rear end helps get the power to the road, which we should mention is an estimated 500 horsepower. The engine bay is tidy and features chrome and polished aluminum components throughout. Vintage Air A/C components, and power brakes are other nice upgrades. Much like the rest of the car, the underside of the car is neat and clean.

While the prospect of finding a Willys Coupe restored to original condition seems to be a rare thing these days. However there are plenty of nicely modified, built Willys coupes that pop up for sale. This is one of those cars. Professionally built, well maintained, nice interior, and a hopped up engine under the hood are a recipe for an awesome street rod.
