Considered by many automotive enthusiasts as one of the most iconic automobiles ever made, the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air will forever hold its timeless stature. Noted as a full-size model produced by Chevrolet, the Bel Air name was only given to two-door hardtop vehicles from 1950 to 1952. For the 1953 model year, the Bel Air name was changed from a designation for a unique body shape to a premium level of trim applied across several body styles. The Bel Air name was used on Chevrolets for the 1950 through 1975 model years.

As part of the second generation, the 1957 model year included the engine displacement growth with the “Super Turbo Fire V8” option, which was shared with the Corvette, and gave the Bel Air a 283 ci engine that produced 283 hp with the assistance of Rochester Ramjet continuous mechanical fuel injection. Accurately designated a “fuelie”, the vehicles equipped with this option are quite rare, since most Bel Air models were fitted with carburetion. Sought after by many collectors for their use of tail fins and chrome, the Bel Air created its own prominence. The 1957 Chevrolet is referred to by some as a “Baby Cadillac”, because many of its styling cues were like Cadillacs of the same time.

Displayed here is a 1957 Bel Air Convertible that has had the same ownership since 1997. Presented in a white over red and white color combination, this Bel Air is an iconic collector example of an American classic. The bright white paint and stylish accents of chrome and gold give this Chevrolet a look that will turn many heads. Included in the physical appearance are white wall tires, fender skirts and continental option.

Powered by a 283 ci PowerPack 4 bbl V8 with a 3 on the tree manual transmission and noted with 16k miles, this convertible is ready to hit the road. Whether you are cruising with the top down, radio blasting your favorite tunes or heading to the ice cream shoppe with your family, we can only imagine that this Bel Air will get you there with no issues. The two-tone red and white interior looks period correct and is exactly what you would expect from a late-1950s automobile. The previous owner has updated the radio to an aftermarket unit that has original styling, and it appears that the original radio is included with the vehicle.

If you are in the market for an American icon, we encourage you to check out this gem. Not only are you getting all the classic styling that the Bel Air is known for, but you are also obtaining a quality convertible. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions.
