Having perpetual appeal due to their beefy and boxy look, the second generation of General Motor's K5 Blazers retain all the muscular stance and grit that they were produced with. With production starting in 1973 and running until 1991, these full-size trucks are a staple among the 4x4 community. Updates and a complete redesign started with the 1973 model year and included four-wheel drive, removable convertible tops/half-cab configurations, and a new grille fascia to name a few. The biggest difference was the changeover of the usual “C/K” designation to “R” and “V” for the 1987 through 1991 model years; this was to avoid confusion with the Chevrolet C/K pickup truck line that was introduced in 1988.

The Blazer vehicle and name was originally designed and marketed to compete with the International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. All these trucks aimed to outsell the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than their competitors. For the first time, the creation of the Blazer married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the “luxury” features like air conditioning and automatic transmission routinely available on pickup trucks. Shortly after its initially debut, the Blazer was already outselling any of its rivals from Ford, Dodge and even Jeep.

Presented here is a bright blue, 1986 K5 Blazer that originally came from California. Although this truck retains all the physical features that this generation of Blazers is known for, it also contains many perks that any driver will appreciate. Operated by an LS 5.3L V8 and 4L80 automatic transmission, this truck has more than ample power to get down any roadway or tackle any trail. Standing tall on 35-inch BFG tires with chrome wheels, the stance and brawny physical appearance of this Blazer is hard to ignore.
Inside the cab is room for 5 with front buckets and a rear bench. Interior floor carpeting runs from front to back and does have stains and spotting. The previous owner has updated to a digital dash as well as the stereo from factory. There are markings and scarring throughout the interior on door panels, arm rest panels and the dash. The steering wheel has also been updated with an aftermarket wheel that has a chrome center.

With only 348 miles since the engine swap, this Blazer has tons of adventure left to explore. The larger-than-life stature and 4x4 capability of this truck make it quite desirable among hearty collectors and genuine enthusiasts alike. We hope that you consider this Blazer for your next purchase. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.
