Produced by Willys-Overland Motors during the 1941 and 1942 model years, the Americar (441 & 442 models respectively) was a well-built compact passenger car. Offered as either a sedan, coupe, station wagon or pickup truck, the Americar was the last vehicle produced by the now debunked Willys-Overland moniker. With critical four-cylinder engine failures, lack of replacement and repair parts, and the sheer lack of assistance from Willys, many Americans saw these vehicles as perfect targets for the hot rod community either as donor cars or as aftermarket fiberglass models.

Displayed here is a show winning example of just what the hot rod community has created out of the Americar. Straying from its original design but keeping with the theme that Willys-Overland started, we have a completely custom coupe. Painted in a true hot rod fashion with custom two-tone paint and graphics, this Willys is ready for any Hot Rod Power Tour or show. The overall physical appearance is completed with Boyd Coddington wheels and has great curb appeal.

This professionally built hot rod is powered by a 502ci/850hp Chevrolet V8 that is absolutely massive in stature. With 8-71 BDS Blower with two 750 blower chrome carbs, chrome coil overs and a 4-link rear end, 9-inch Ford Posi with 4.11 gears, and custom 4-inch exhaust, updated components abound on this Willys. Everything is situated on an Outlaw Body and Pro Street chassis that any expert would recommend.

Customization continues to the interior which has been outfitted with white leather buckets, custom door panels to compliment the exterior graphics, and embroidered Willys-Overland logos on the headrests and carpeting. The interior roll-cage assembly has been painted to match and the custom dash displays only the pertinent gauges needed to control this beast. Other upgrades include power windows and 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes.
