Introduced by Chevrolet in September 1956 for the 1957 model year, the Bel Air was one of three models available to consumers. Partnered alongside the mid-range Two-Ten and One-Fifty, the upscale Bel Air is considered an American automotive icon. Often referred to as a “Shoebox,” the 1957 Chevrolets were the first to feature streamlined rear fenders which became a watershed for Chevrolet. This lightweight car, coupled with a powerful overheard valve V8, became a showroom draw and thrust Chevrolet into the arena of competitive motorsports. In 1957, the big news beneath the hood of the Bel Airs included a displacement increase as the standard 265 was bored out to 283 cubic inches.

Shown here is a black with black over red, Bel Air Sport Coupe that is truly stunning. Noted as being a true 283 V8 vehicle complete with automatic transmission, this Bel Air is a quite the driver and is the most pleasant cruiser. The exterior paint has aged significantly well along with all the of chrome trim and would show extremely well at any local car show. Chrome hubcaps and thin, white-walled tires complete the overall appearance.

As mentioned, this vehicle is powered by a 283ci V8 that notes 270 horsepower and appears to be in all original condition. The chassis and undercarriage are exceptionally solid with some of the original undercoating still present. This vehicle also boasts power steering which would be considered quite the upgrade for its time.

The two-tone red and black interior compliments the exterior beautifully. The bench seats, headliner, and door panels look brand new, but we are unable to determine if they have been recovered or are completely original. The previous owner has upgraded the radio and speakers but has included the original radio headset with the vehicle.

Whether you are a fan of fins or this true American icon, this Bel Air would be a great addition to any collection. This gorgeous Chevrolet will bring a smile to your face and would be the ultimate vehicle for any road trip. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.
