Developed as an alternative to the trucks being built by Chrysler, the Plymouth PT105 Pickup was created purely because every Plymouth dealer in the U.S. and Canada paired each model from the Plymouth line up with another product from Chrysler. Plymouth built their new truck on a chassis from Dodge and labelled it the “PT” which stood for “Plymouth Truck.” For the first production year they developed four models on the platform, including the Express (the pickup), a Cab-and-Chassis, a Commercial Sedan, and a Wood Body Station Wagon – although the last body style only lasted one year. For the 1940 model year, Plymouth introduced sealed beam headlamps, the upper grille featured the addition of three horizontal chrome strips and the power of the inline 6-cylinder engine was increased from 70hp to 79hp.

Presented here is a completely restored 1940 Plymouth PT105 that has only clocked 1,978 miles since it's completion in 2004. Shown in a red over black paint scheme, this truck is quite the eye catcher. With just the right amount of chrome accents, the exterior of this truck has been both restored and upkept beautifully. Complete with a newly finished wood bed and white wall tires, the restoration has taken this truck back to its original glory.

Powered by a "Spitfire" Flathead inline 6-cylinder with 3-speed manual transmission and conversion to a 12-volt system, this truck is a treat to drive. The engine compartment and chassis components were not over-restored, but do show nicely. While there are not many comforts inside the cab, the interior has been restored and finished nicely from top to bottom. The bench seat is covered expertly and has matching door panels. The dash sports original gauges for engine temp, oil pressure, fuel, amperage and finally a speedometer.

Although not as commonly known as the Detroit brands of the time, these Plymouth trucks are great looking classics and would make the perfect addition to any collection. The restoration on this specific truck has been completed by experts, and includes all the documentation. We encourage any collector to seriously consider this truck for their next purchase.
