1955 Chevy featured here rolled into our parking lot and immediately had our attention. Featuring a high horsepower, with a large cubic-inch engine size, tubbed rear wheel wells, over-sized tires at the rear, and a custom interior. This car is a fun car to look over to take in all the details and modifications that make it an amazing package. A ride in the car cements the fact that it pumps out a lot of power - throwing passengers back into their seats is a task that is not difficult to do.

The silver over black paint is professionally applied over well executed body work and the finish has been polished to a deep luster. The 210 factory stainless trim remains and has been restored to a rich shine. The front bumper has been color matched to the black paint and the rear bumper matches the silver paint. Further custom touches include a louvered hood and dark tinted rear and side windows.

Inside the cabin, the tasteful custom touches continue. The door panels are custom formed with leather and cloth in a manner that mates form with function and feature custom billet handles. The front bucket seats and rear folding seat upholstery are covered in leather with cloth inserts that match the door panel design. Between the bucket seats sits a custom console covered in in matching leather with integrated A/C vents and cup holders. The folding rear seat opens to a very useable rear storage compartment. The rear area between the massive rear wheel tubs contains a custom fuel cell and the battery has been relocated to this area over the right rear wheel. With the rear tailgate covered in carpet this space calls for a great area for a roadside tailgate picnic during a cruise or at a car show. The dash has been updated with full instrumentation from a Classic Instruments gauge cluster designed to fit in the stock location. Vintage Air heater and A/C controls look almost factory and are located in the stock location. A Custom Autosound AM/FM radio with auxiliary input provides the power to Pioneer speakers that have been custom located. The interior has been well maintained and still presents as fresh from the initial build.

Beneath the hood sits a Merlin 509cid Big Block Chevy V8 topped with a Holley Sniper EFI that produced 600 HP with 560 ft. lbs. of torque on the engine dyno. The engine compartment is well detailed and presents well with many custom touches including dual inlet air cleaner with duct work that pulls cold air from outside via the inner fender wells. March pulleys and serpentine belt kit have been added. MSD ignition lights the fuel mixture that exits through large tube headers that runs into 3-inch exhaust with H-pipe through Flowmaster mufflers and tailpipes that exit in front of the rear tires. An aluminum radiator with electric fans keep this hot set up ice cold.

Underneath the high-performance modifications continue on the chassis. The build was based on a clean and rust-free frame with equally clean floors. The wicked stance of this wagon looks fast just sitting still. To create this rake the front suspension features tubular A-arms with a built-in drop with coil over shocks and dropped spindles. Front braking is provided through Wilwood calipers and disc brakes. Power assist steering is provided by a rack and pinion steering rack. Engine power is transferred to an American Performance TKO 5 speed Tremec TKO-600 transmission back to a narrowed Ford 9” rear differential that sits between relocated rear leaf springs with Calvert traction control arms. The power hits the road with massive Hoosier 31X16/50LT Radial Tires mounted on Weld aluminum wheels. Upfront similar Weld wheels B/F Goodrich Radial T/A tires further accentuate the California rake with big meats out back and thinner smaller tires out front.

We have a saying around here at GKM, the most reasonable way to build a custom or modified hot rod is buy one already done. It would be quite a task to build a hot rod of this level and detail at the price of this car. This car is well sorted and as a veteran of the Hot Rod Power Tour has proven its reliability.
