2011 was a breakthrough year for the Shelby GT500. The prior Shelby's produce from 2007 to 2010, were outstanding vehicles but the automotive press felt the supercharged truck engine stuffed under the GT500's hood added too much weight to the front end of a car that was already nose heavy. And rightfully so, this set up overworked the brakes and created a serious understeered condition. These were great straight-line cars but on the road course these nose heavy cars struggled. In 2011 the Ford Engineers corrected this issue when they nestled an aluminum-block 5.4-liter V-8, topped by a Roots-type blower in the engine bay that shaved 102 pounds off the iron-block V-8's weight. Featured here is a very low mileage example of this revamped road rocket that after a diet was ready to tear up the twists and turns on the race track like never before.

This car features the new for 2011 5.4-liter V-8 engine that produces 550 horsepower at 6200 rpm, a peak torque of 510 pound-feet at 4250 rpm. The engine in this car has been modified with underdrive pulleys and tuned with SCT increasing the engine output another 100hp. This car has electric power assist for the steering instead of hydraulic boosting used on the previous Shelby Mustangs. The engine sounds incredible, with a wicked snarl at high revs that's enhanced by a muted whine from the supercharger under the hood. Power delivery is very linear, with meaningful thrust above 2000 rpm, and the shifter for the six-speed Tremec TR6060 manual gearbox manual has short throws and a narrow gate with a positive action. This car comes equipped with the optional SVT Performance package which features Goodyear's Eagle F1 Supercar rubber; P265/40 front and P285/35 back tires mounted on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged aluminum wheels, which are one inch larger than the base GT500's.
This car is truly stunning to look at if not a little sinister to look at. The black finish has been well maintained and shines with a deep luster and the SVT and rally stripes were factory deleted. Inside the interior is still factory fresh and features the Electronics package made up of voice-activated navigation system, high-definition and satellite radio, and dual-zone electronic climate control. Underneath the car still looks like it just rolled off the assembly line with factory tags and assembly markings still present. The Roush axle back is included in the sale.

This car has extremely low mileage with only 573 miles on the odometer, which if you do the math over 11 years this car only saw on average 52 miles annually!
