The S5 is considered by many Audi aficionados to be the most beautiful of the manufacturer's models: perfectly sized with timeless styling. The exterior metallic-gray paint finish has been well-maintained with even gloss and a smooth-as-glass surface. There are no noteworthy dings, dents, or other damage on any sheet-metal body panel. The power-operated black convertible top is properly fitted and functions as designed. Tastefully limited metal-finished trim on the front grille, mirror caps, windshield surround, and quad exhaust tips—is similarly well-maintained and damage-free. Factory-tinted cabin glass and all lighting lenses are clear and free of abrasions. Flow1 platinum-finish, 5-spoke, 19-inch, alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin 255/35 Z-rated PilotSport4 tires.

Audi has long been known for superb interior design execution employing premium materials, and that's amply demonstrated on this S5. Light-gray-stitched black leather covers seating surfaces including well-bolstered front buckets with “S5” embossed identification. All the leather is free of rips, tears, or other imperfections and shows negligible indications of ordinary use. Black carpeting covers the cabin floors, with WeatherTech® floor liners in place in front (carpet mats in back). A flat-bottom, leather-trimmed multi-function sport steering wheel with Audi-logo center frames “S5”-branded analog instruments. Instrument and switchgear graphic markings are crisp and undamaged. Below the digital infotainment screen (which rises from the dash), the center stack includes factory audio and climate controls. The console hosts the S5-branded lever for the Tiptronic shiftable automatic transmission, cupholders, and the combination armrest-storage compartment.

Under the hood, the 3-liter Audi V6 TFSI Supercharged engine is spotlessly clean with a few aftermarket components which those who have a keen eye will notice. The engine has been treated to thousands of dollars in aftermarket goodies, which give a boost in power. Numerous APR Performance parts have been installed including: Supercharger Pulley, Crankshaft Pulley, Ultracharger Throttle Body Kit, APR Cooling System Upgrade, Carbon Fiber Air Intake, and a Stage 2 tune. APR (conservatively) estimates that with a stage 2 tune and the aforementioned modifications that the minimum horsepower rating is 478 horsepower. An APR S-Tronic Transmission Control Module was also added, which results in crisper shifting especially when “manually shifting” using the paddle shifters. An AWE Performance “touring” exhaust system was added which has a nice tone, it is not loud. Other performance upgrades are; Hawk brake pads, Bilstein shocks, and H&R lowering springs.

Short drives or long trips in an Audi S5 offer a remarkable experience of power, comfort, and style. This S5 has a little extra oomph thanks to the aftermarket engine parts, which when cruising top down could blow your hair back just a bit quicker.
