“… the Challenger will hit 60 mph from rest in 4.7 seconds and clear the quarter in 13.1. SRT imposes no artificial top-speed limits on its products, which means the Challenger SRT8 should be capable of reaching the engine's 6400-rpm redline in fourth gear and attaining a 173-mph top speed.”

“Styling. If the new Challenger isn't an exact replica of the original, no one who remembers those thrilling cars of yesteryear will fail to recognize it. And it is very faithful to the 2006 show property. The only major distinction is the absence of the show car's gun-sight grille, which was discarded to preserve the look of the '70s car. Beyond that, the interior treatment is a bit more subdued; there's a little black spoiler on the rear decklid; and the brake rotors are slotted versus cross-drilled, consistent with the latest SRT8 brake packages.”

Offered here is a very well-documented 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 First Edition that was special-ordered by a Northern, Indiana Dodge dealer (for one of the dealer-principals) in Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl over Dark Slate Gray Premium Leather. This is a First Edition car, number 4,003 of 6,400. It's also a Carfax-certified one-owner car with just 4,671 miles showing on its digital odometer, or fewer than 350 miles per-year on average since new. The only minor hiccup in its history is a mistaken mileage reading taken at an inspection station resulting in a “mileage inconsistency” showing on its Carfax. (This can be removed with an appeal to Carfax.) The Challenger's full list of optional and standard equipment is shown on the factory window sticker included in the sale (and shown in the gallery for reference).

The Challenger's exterior black paint retains near-showroom-new appearance, gloss, and smoothness. The pearl-effect paint adds depth and interest, and a dark carbon-fiber hood stripe adds a subtle touch of flair. Virtually all body trim is executed in matte-black; the sole exceptions are the thin chrome strip that frames the front grille and the bright-metal fuel-filler cap. All body panels are free of dings, dents, or other damage. Cabin glass—including on the power moonroof—and all lighting lenses—including on the amber driving lights—are clear and free of cracks. Factory badging includes the “Challenger” and “SRT” front-grille emblems, “6.1 Hemi” emblem on the hood bulge, the “SRT8” emblem on the rear lip spoiler, and the “Dodge” lettering on the backup-light lens. Stock 20"x9", 5-spoke, forged-aluminum, SRT-Design wheels are mounted with GoodYear® 245/45 Z-rated all-season performance tires. Red-painted Brembo® brake calipers and slotted brake rotors are visible through the open wheel design.

The Dark Slate Gray interior features heated, well-bolstered front bucket seats (8-way power adjustable for the driver) and 60-40 rear foldable seats all upholstered in premium leather with textured cloth inserts, an orange accent stripe at each seating position, and “SRT” embroidery on the front seatbacks. Black carpeting (with matching protective black carpet mats) covers the cabin floors. A 4-spoke, multifunction steering wheel with Dodge Ram center emblem fronts the black dashboard and its comprehensive analog-instrument cluster, Gauges all feature white faces and thin chrome bezels; all graphic markings are clear and crisp. The center stack includes an infotainment screen, the factory AM-FM 6-disc DVD MP3 radio with Sirius®, and rotating-dial controls for the climate-control system. The console hosts the gated shift lever for the 5-speed automatic transmission (with AutoShift® feature), cupholders, and a combination armrest-storage compartment. A dash emblem identifies the car as number 4,003 of 6,400 first-edition cars.

The car's trunk is carpeted and includes a “Challenger”-embroidered cargo mat. Audio components for the Kicker® amplifier and subwoofer are located here.

Under the hood, the 6.1-liter Hemi v8 is a Mopar-lover's dream. Perfectly clean and original with no aftermarket modifications, the engine is presented just as it was when it left the Brampton, Ontario assembly plant. Viewed from below, the chassis and components are exceptionally clean, undamaged, and complete. The cars original identification and information tags remain as mounted at the factory. The sale includes the owner's manual, three remote-entry keys, the car's shipping invoice and previously mentioned factory window sticker, as well as other customer literature.
