“Saluting the C/K | Chevy's iconic sport truck of the 90s” – Street Truck magazine, December 2017

“… if you were reaching driving age when the fourth generation of full-size Chevy pickups was being unleashed onto the public (right around the very late 80s), you just might have a naturally stronger attraction to this new wave of truck style. The 90s were coming, and so was a new style of, well, everything. Aside from the 'hip' new fashion and music trends, there was a new type of truck on the streets to cruise around in with your friends. The evolution of the modern American truck had arrived.”

“The '88-'98 GM pickup, which was technically known as the GMT400 platform, was definitely not your grandpa's truck. Along with this fresh breed of pickup came a whole new outlook on what a truck is and what it could really be. The 'OBS' (old body style) pickup, as they are often referred to now, awoke to a new breed of truck enthusiast that instantly recognized the truck's potential to be customized. The new Chevy truck boasted an appearance that spoke to a youthful crowd across the country who were sucked in by the sleek, smooth body lines and the vast amount of killer aftermarket parts that were ready to be bolted on.”

Offered here is a short-bed, 4WD, V8, 1990 Chevrolet K1500 in black over red. A very well-maintained, lifetime Colorado sport truck, it has traveled 61,859 miles.

The black exterior paint shows very well for its age: excellent gloss and uniform factory finish across all body panels. There are no dings, dents, or other damage on the sheet metal. The matte-black fender flares and lower-front spoiler are free of cracks or abrasion. Graphic appliques—“Sport” on the tailgate and “4x4” on the rear fenders—all with large red bowtie emblems, are crisp and unfaded. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) A red-outlined bowtie emblem is also mounted in the center of the completely black grille above the black-painted bumper. There is no chrome on the body. The cargo box is lined and shows no wear. Fender-side badging includes red “1500” model identification. Tinted cabin glass (including on the sliding rear window) and all lighting lenses are clear. Factory 6-spoke, “4x4”-branded, 16-inch alloy wheels are mounted with GoodYear® Wrangler TD 265/75 outline-white-letter tires.

The interior red theme provides a stunning and warm contrast: two-tone, red soft-finish door panels include power-window switches, red carpeting (with red rubber protective mats) covers the cabin floors, the dashboard is red, headliner is red, and cabin walls are red. The seat upholstery is the original, vertically pleated, red-on-red fabric. It all makes for a handsome, coordinated look. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the exceptional condition of the truck's various interior surfaces.) Behind the black, 4-spoke, red-Chevrolet-branded steering wheel, the square-design dashboard features the optional premium analog instrument array including tachometer. To the right, the factory radio remains mounted (with equalizer settings to its right) above HVAC controls. The transfer-case selector lever for the 4WD is floor-mounted. An ample storage box with cupholders separates the front seats.

Under the hood, the reliable 5.7-liter (350-cubic-inch) Chevrolet V8, an engine that has powered millions of Chevy trucks, commands a completely stock engine bay. Surfaces are clean and there are no indications of performance “mods.” Viewed from below, the underside of the truck is similarly clean and undamaged with fresh Bilstein® suspension components in place. (To best evaluate the condition of undercarriage surfaces, please review the gallery photos shot from below.)

The truck's factory-mounted identification and information tags—including the service parts label showing all option codes—remain in place.

While the more than 140 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '90 Chevy K1500 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

One of the charms of this era of Chevy and GMC trucks is the truly timeless character of their design. When they've been maintained to the high standard that this black short-bed has, they can literally look nowhere near their age; beneficiaries of some pickup truck Fountain of Youth
