We are excited to offer this very nicely restored example of a truly iconic muscle car. For many people, the '70 Chevelle is the iteration of the Chevelle line which comes to mind when “Chevrolet Chevelle” is mentioned. This car has a lot going for it being a Fully Restored example, finished in Red with Black stripes, and it even has an LS5 under the hood. This car is a hot item for muscle car collectors.

Thanks to a careful restoration, this Chevelle is finished nearly the way it looked when it left the factory. All the details are there, right down to the smallest details like drip rail moldings, wheel arch trim, hood pins, and special badging. Cranberry Red paint (Code 75) covers the 'coke-bottle' shaped body lines, while a factory correct black vinyl top gives a little contrast. Fit and finish of body panels is just what they should be - evenly applied paint is glossy, body panel alignment is dialed in, and chrome and brightwork is like new. Factory Correct 14”x7” wheels are wrapped in white letter Goodyear Polyglas tires, which are easy to get squawking thanks to all that torque from the V8 under the hood.

Inside the car is just what you'd expect from a properly restored '70 Chevelle. Sport steering wheel, round gear knob within easy reach, an array of factory gauges including a tach, and a commanding view of the functional cowl induction hood scoop through the windshield. Interior surfaces show extremely well throughout, including the carpeting, and the headliner. The interior trim is not finished the way that the car left the factory. The car left the factory with Ivory interior rather than the black interior that the car now has. All the factory optioned details are there; console mounted Muncie shifter, lap and shoulder belts, AM Radio/Cassette player, chrome trim along the backs of the bucket seats, and chrome trim along the door panels. Speaking of the door panels, “SS” badging is also present, lest you forget what the car is as the LS5 throws you back into your seat. The trunk boasts a factory spare, trunk mat, and splatter paint.

Chevrolet's Chevelle earned its stripes in the musclecar world thanks to good looks and powerful engine options. From the 396ci V8 to the LS5 and LS6 options, the Chevelle SS was always a contender at any stop-light drag-race. Right out of the box, the 454ci LS5 offered a tire melting 360 horsepower and 500lb/ft of torque. Under the cowl induction equipped hood of this Chevelle is the powerful LS5 V8 mated to a Muncie M22 4-Speed. The orange painted engine block and heads, chrome valve covers, and factory air cleaner are focal points when the hood is first opened. But, looking closer at other details we see the power brake booster, factory air components, and power steering components. 454 cubic inches of pure grunt pump out a factory rated 360 horsepower. Once some semblance of traction was achieved thanks to this Chevelle's optional posi-traction rear end, the next concern was how to slow this awesome car down. This car features factory power disc brakes in the front which helps in the task of slowing forward momentum. The car is said to be numbers matching, but during the restoration and engine rebuilding process, the engine stamps were planed off the block. So we cannot prove that the engine is in fact numbers matching. A Muncie M22 4-Speed transmission handles gear selection. The underside of the car is clean and gives us a great view of the optional performance suspension, front disc brakes, new exhaust which includes Flowmaster mufflers, and the bottom side of the M22 heavy duty transmission.

The 70-72 Chevelle SS body style may have been the last iteration of the muscle car era Chevelle, but for so many muscle car enthusiasts, it is the body style to have. The muscular coke-bottle shape, bulging hood, slightly pointed front end, and forward rake give this car an aura all its own. The fully restored Cranberry Red example we have listed here is definitely one for muscle car enthusiasts to consider for their collection.
