“A stylish daily driver with remarkable agility and ability.” – The Detroit Bureau, December 2021
The full Detroit Bureau's weeklong-review writeup (with full 2022 Bronco specifications) can be found online here: https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/reviews/a-week-with-2022-ford-bronco-black-diamond/
The Detroit Bureau reviewers' week with the Ford Bronco Black Diamond provides one of the first independent reviews of the 2022 model. Here are notes from their extensive writeup:
“The Bronco is a traditional body-on-frame SUV based on the next-generation Ford Ranger pickup truck with two doors or four, and sold in ascending Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands and Wildtrak trim. Each model is meant to have a slightly different personality. Base models are just that, while the Big Bend is a popular-priced off-roader. The Black Diamond is meant for 'adventure off-roading'….”
“The Bronco's look is iconic without being retro, a tough act to pull off. And despite its three decade absence from the market, the newest Bronco is clearly a Bronco, something you couldn't say of the 1991 model. Like the Jeep Wrangler with which it competes, the Bronco comes with a choice of a soft or hard top what can be removed, as can the doors.”
“The Bronco's chunky, rugged interior styling is enhanced by its eloquent simplicity. The large infotainment screen dominates the instrument panel, with climate controls clearly paced beneath it. There's plenty of head and leg room, and ample cargo space. Washable rubberized floors with integrated drains and marine-grade vinyl seating surfaces are available.”
“All Broncos are powered by one of two gas engines: a 300-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine or an optional 330-hp twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6. A 7-speed manual is standard on 4-cylinder models and includes a granny gear and hill descent control, which automatic models don't have. A 10-speed automatic is standard with the V-6 and optional on the four and includes a transmission oil cooler.”
“Equipped with an independent front suspension and solid rear axle, Broncos come with an electronic 4×4 system with a two-speed electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case with 2Hi, 4Hi, 4Lo, and neutral. The Bronco's standard Terrain Management System features five “G.O.A.T.” (Goes Over Any Terrain) modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Sand. But opting for higher trim level nets more driving modes.”
“You wouldn't expect this big, boxy behemoth to be so athletic. But it is. Built to tackle the worst that off-roading can deliver, the Bronco is surprisingly refined when ensconced in civilization.”
“The 2022 Ford Bronco is a welcome return of an iconic personality, one that makes too many other SUVs seem drab and lifeless by comparison. Its off-road cred is more than skin deep. It's a daily driver that will make you smile every time you approach it, while its capability ensures that you'll always get where you need to go.”
Offered here is a brand-new 2022 Ford Bronco Black Diamond in Carbonized Gray Metallic over black-and-gray interior. The 2-door SUV shows exactly 8.5 miles on its odometer. It comes with its full 3-year/36,000-mile basic, and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranties in force. Built as a special-order vehicle on January 7, 2022 and delivered new at Betten Baker Ford of Coopersville, Michigan, the Bronco's window sticker showing all standard and optional equipment is included in the sale; a photo of the document is presented in the accompanying gallery for reference.
The Bronco's exterior paint and trim is factory-fresh and pristine. The paintwork is perfect and all matte-black trim—on fender flares, front grille, molded fiberglass roof, optional heavy-duty modular bumper, and mirrors—is entirely free of imperfections. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The same is true for cabin glass and lighting lenses. All factory badging—including the Black Diamond front-fender emblems-- is in place. Gloss-black, 6-lug, 17-inch steel wheels with jumping-Bronco-logo center caps are mounted with General® Grabber A/T 265/70 LT all-terrain tires.
The truck's interior includes the marine-grade vinyl upholstery, rubberized floor (for easy wash-out), and drain plug among the standard equipment. The color theme is a subdued gray-and-black perfectly in keeping with the exterior look. Seat upholstery is two-tone gray-and-black with embroidered bucking-bronco logos on the front headrests. Rear split-bench seats are individually removable. Framed by the multi-function steering wheel, the dashboard is a triumph of simplicity and utility. The shift lever for the 10-speed automatic transmission is mounted on the center console. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the perfect condition of the Bronco's interior surfaces.)
Under the hood, the 2.3-liter Eco-Boost® inline-4-cylinder commands a spotless engine bay. Nothing is out-of-place, and no modifications have been made. The Bronco is exactly as it left the factory. All vehicle identification and information tags are in place and owner literature is included.
While the more than 165 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '22 Bronco Black Diamond in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. This latest-generation Bronco is a utility-vehicle home run with demand vastly outstripping supply. Praise from the automotive press has been very strong; product-supply is another matter. Fortunately, there's still a way to get behind the driver's seat right now.
