“Works like a truck. Rides like a car.” – 1970 Ford Pickup magazine advertisement headline

“Getting toughness and comfort on the same four wheels takes some doing. Like Twin-I-Beam independent front suspension, Ford's better idea for smooth riding. Two forged I-beam axles give it strength. Coil springs cushion the ride. Add Flex-O-Matic rear suspension and the ride stays smooth with or without a load. Inside Ford's cab, roomiest and quietest in the world, is comfort many cars might envy. Customize your comfort with… Cruise-O-Matic transmission, power front disc brakes, bucket seats and a choice of five great engines, including an economy 302-cu. in. V8. See how easy-riding a tough truck can be. See your Ford dealer soon.”

Offered here is a restored and tastefully up-dated 1970 Ford F100 pickup in blue over blue. The odometer shows 18,666 miles, and the truck's overall condition is excellent and in keeping with its heritage.

The exterior metallic-blue paint was professionally applied, and the results show it: outstanding gloss, smooth finish, no flaws. All panels—cab, roof, cargo box, and tailgate—exhibit the same excellent finish and rich color. The rear bumper has been removed for a custom “shaved” look. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The chrome finishes on the front bumper, side mirrors, windshield surround, door handles, and slightly custom front grille are all in excellent condition. Cabin glass—including the solid-glass rear cab window—is clear and undamaged; lighting lenses are also free of cracks or other damage. Factory badging includes the F-O-R-D hood letters, “Ford 100” emblems combined with the front side-marker lights, and “Ford” embossed in the tailgate. The interior of the cargo box has a black protective coating applied. Polished dish-style, 17-inch American Racing, 8-hole wheels are mounted with 255/60 Nitto® tires.

Inside, the blue color theme continues as does the stock look overall. Door panels are painted in the body color with stock hardware (including window cranks) and a single piece of bright trim. Cabin carpeting is medium blue, while above, a black headliner incorporates multiple Highliner® audio speakers. The fabric upholstery on the bench seat is vertically pleated and free of rips or tears; trim is blue vinyl. A 3-spoke, matte-black Grant® GT steering wheel frames the stock instrument cluster exhibiting age-related patina. A Sony® audio head unit has replaced the factory radio. The T-shift lever for the automatic transmission is floor-mounted. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the condition of the Ford's interior surfaces.)

Under the hood, the 302-cubic-inch, Ford small-block V8 wears the correct Ford-blue engine block paint; the valve covers and air-cleaner cover feature the same paint for a very stock appearance. The remainder of the engine bay is very clean. All components—including power steering—are in place; all wiring and hoses are properly routed. Viewed from below, the chassis is clean, complete, and undamaged. Most metal has been sprayed with rust-inhibitor so surface rust is negligible. The properly routed performance dual-exhaust system is a visual focal point.

The truck's original identification tags remain in place.

While the more than 140 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '70 F100 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

It's no secret that Seventies pickups—especially Fords—are hot properties. In the case of this beautiful blue example, the next owner is bound to hear compliments on the quality of the restoration and paint work on the truck, as well as on maintaining the look of this “work like a truck; ride like a car” F100.
