“Face it, the TJ is peak Jeep Wrangler.” – HagertyMedia, December 2018

“The all-new TJ Wrangler debuted for 1997 with the same wheelbase and 4.0-liter AMC inline-six as the YJ, but returned to round headlights. It looked a lot like a CJ-7, with the classic door shape that featured a rounded rear edge of the window frame, but underneath was a new four-link suspension cribbed from the Grand Cherokee. Eventually an overdrive automatic transmission made its way onto the option sheet, as did a six-speed manual. The TJ also marked the debut of the Rubicon trim, bringing selectable front and rear locking differentials and Dana 44 axles along with a unique transfer case with 4:1 low range. Thus was born the most capable factory Wrangler up to that point.”

Offered here is a 2001 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Sport in silver-and-black over black, a 60th Anniversary Edition model. With just one owner since being manufactured at the Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio and sold new at Premier Chrysler-Plymouth-Jeep of Lansing, Michigan, the Wrangler has traveled 42,322 miles, or fewer than 2,200 miles per-year. The Jeep's original factory window sticker showing all standard and optional features is included in the sale. A photo of it is presented in the gallery for reference. This Jeep has been superbly maintained with obvious pride by its only owner through the years.

The exterior silver paint retains a near-perfect showroom shine: high gloss on a perfectly smooth finish. There are no significant dings, dents, or other damage anywhere on the utility vehicle's exterior panels. Double-level, chromed, tubular-steel bumpers have been added front and rear with auxiliary driving lights mounted in front. Tubular entry-assist steps in chrome are added on both sides, and the trademark seven slats of the front grille have six added chrome trim pieces in each opening. The fiberglass top is rendered in black and it, too, is free of damage or wear indications. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Cabin glass and lighting lenses are pristine; taillights have added brush-protection cages. Factory badging includes the special 60th Anniversary emblem above the embossed “Jeep” identification rearward of the front wheels. Canyon-style, 5-spoke, 15-inch aluminum wheels with Jeep center caps, are mounted with Goodyear® Wrangler GS-A outline-white-letter 30x9.5 LT all-terrain tires.

Inside, molded hard-plastic door panels are free of damage. Charcoal cabin carpeting is protected by fitted all-weather rubber mats. Seat upholstery on the front buckets and rear bench seat is a dark-gray patterned fabric of hard-wearing material free of rips or tears. A padded roll cage is installed, and audio speakers are mounted at the ceiling level. A 2-spoke charcoal steering wheel frames the classically simple, but complete analog instrument cluster. The factory radio and HVAC controls are located on the center dash. The T-shift lever for the automatic transmission is located on the center console adjacent to the selector for the transfer case and forward of a cupholder and combination lockable storage compartment with armrest. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the excellent condition of the Wrangler's interior surfaces.)

Under the hood, the venerable 4.0-liter Jeep 6-cylinder commands a complete, and completely clean engine bay. All components are in properly place with no modifications noted from stock. Viewed from below, the chassis is straight and complete; the plate protecting the transfer case remains mounted with no sign of off-roading damage.

The Jeep's identification and information tags remain as mounted at the factory. The sale includes the full complement of owner literature and a car cover.
