Offered here is a 1958 Chrysler 300D hardtop in salmon over palomino. Recently restored to a very high standard, the car's odometer shows 1,593 miles, the distance it's traveled since the restoration work was completed. This is an investment-grade example of a beautiful and historic American automobile, Chrysler's statement of power, style, and exuberance to capture the attention of Fifties enthusiast drivers.

The exterior, non-metallic salmon paint is the result of professional application. The finish is smooth and even with excellent gloss across all body panels. The color is rare and very well-suited to the horizontal-design automobile's lines. The quality of the paint work can be appreciated by noting the underside of the trunk lid, the door jambs and sills, and the underside of the hood, all of which were meticulously painted. As noted in the Hemmings article, the 300D was not festooned with excessive chrome or other styling crutches. The chrome work here is relatively spartan for the time with the designers relying on the lines of the car to create the visual impact. Chrome bumpers, limited bodyside trim, grille, headlight, and taillight trim, window trim, door handles, and mirrors all have a simplicity to their design; and all are in excellent condition. All factory badging—including the handsome circular, red-white-and-blue “300” bodyside emblems and C-H-R-Y-S-L-E-R hood letters—is properly in place. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are pristine. Body-color-painted wheels with matching-color full-wheel covers (also with tri-color “300” emblems) are mounted with period-correct, wide-whitewall, bias-ply tires.

Inside, the palomino-and-charcoal color theme is striking and very appealing. Door trim combines the two colors—palomino, horizontal-pattern vinyl above charcoal carpeting—with chrome and bright-metal trim. Charcoal carpeting covers the cabin floors. Palomino-color, horizontal-pattern vinyl covers the front and rear bench seat (with a “300” badge located in the inset-definition between the seatbacks). The headliner is fresh and free of sagging, supported by attractive chrome trim pieces. A 2-spoke, charcoal-and-palomino steering wheel with “300” tri-color center emblem frames the charcoal-colored padded dash top over palomino-painted lower dash. Instruments include a 130-mph speedometer, clock, and combination 4-gauge engine-monitoring suite. All gauges are original showcasing the same typestyle for markings, and set in the bright-metal-trimmed instrument cluster, Other operating controls are arrayed across the lower dash in “pods,” and the original push-button AM radio occupies the center-dash position above slide-lever heat controls. The automatic transmission is shifted by push buttons located to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. The 300's trunk is flawless.

Under the hood, the 392-cubic-inch, “Chrysler Fire Power” Hemi engine is a commanding presence under its twin 4-barrel carburetors. The impressive output was 380 horsepower, a truly astounding figure in the day. Here the engine bay is stock and perfectly clean, with correct finishes including the gold paint on the air cleaners and valve covers. Viewed from below, the car's chassis is original, complete, and undamaged. The properly routed dual-exhaust system, clean lower engine and transmission surfaces, and updated suspension components are all visual focal points. Expected surface rust is present on untreated metal.

The factory-mounted identification and information tags remain in place. Some historic “300 Club” newsletter copies are included in the sale.
