“While I still have got breath in my lungs I will tell you what a dandy car you make. I have drove Fords exclusively when I could get away with one.” – Bank robber, Clyde Barrow (of “Bonnie and Clyde” fame) in a hand-written letter to Henry Ford.

Through the years, Clyde Barrow was far from the only fan of '34 Fords, especially the three-window coupe model with flathead V8 power. In particular, hot rodders have favored the model, modifying the cars in every way imaginable. That creativity has been key to some truly memorable '34 Ford builds.

Offered here is a professionally restored, tastefully upgraded, and impressively restored 1934 Ford 3-window coupe in deep-burgundy metallic over red. The car is virtually flawless in every respect and includes a thick binder with extensive documentation including photos of the build. The 796 miles on its odometer reflects its time on the road since the restoration was completed.

The exterior, deep-burgundy metallic exterior paint is stunning: perfectly applied, free of any damage, and uniformly glossy across the entire car. The color choice perfectly highlights the car's flowing lines, in particular on the hood, fenders, rear-deck rumble seat, and spare-tire carrier. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The chrome front grille—a trademark of the '34 cars—is pristine, with the classic “V8” emblem mounted. In the same way, window-surround trim, front-lighting trim (including horns and cabin-side lights), the beautifully curved bumpers, door handles, and taillight trim is near-perfect. While the car features a lowered, “raked” front suspension, the body has been kept respectful of the classic model eschewing modifications like a chopped roof or the like. Cabin glass is perfectly clear and free of imperfections. Chrome-finished wire wheels with chrome “V8”-emblem-embossed hubcaps (in excellent condition) are mounted with Pirelli® Scorpion 235/75 (rear) Pirelli P4 196/65 (front) all-season tires.

Inside, the fully refreshed, red-leather interior is a very tasteful upgrade that—like the exterior—respects the original design. The vertically pleated upholstery pattern is echoed on the door-panel trim (on the rear-hinged cabin doors), and perfectly executed in the rumble seat area including side walls with the oval Ford logo embossed. Chrome door handles and window cranks are pristine. Seat belts in complementary burgundy are one of many tasteful touches. The white headliner with black trim is perfect. The original banjo-style steering wheel with chrome “V8” center emblem frames the body-color-painted metal dash with a full array of Classic Instruments® parchment-faced, period-look, analog instruments including a Ford-branded 140-mph speedometer, fuel gauge, and coolant-temperature gauge. (Matching oil-pressure and coolant-temperature gauges are mounted on the cowl under the hood.) Pull-levers on the dash operate various functions with updated heating and ventilation controls mounted inside the glove box. The shift lever for the three-speed manual transmission is mounted on the floor. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the coupe's beautifully kept interior condition.)

The center-hinged hood opens to reveal a hot-rodder's dream: a spotless, perfectly upgraded Ford flathead V8 with Offenhauser®-branded, finned cylinder heads and chrome-finish carburetor. Chrome and polished-metal finishes also enhance coolant lines, exhaust headers, and alternator. An MSD® ignition and aluminum radiator are also installed. Viewed from below, the chassis is extremely clean, entirely free of damage, and enhanced with chrome front-suspension componentry, brushed-metal, performance dual-exhaust (with twin chrome tips). Bare-metal drive shaft, bare-metal rear differential, and chrome suspension components in the rear are other points of visual interest. There is no rust.

Original-style identification and information tags are mounted. The sale includes the previously mentioned extensive full-build documentation.

While the more than 155 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '34 Ford 3-Window Coupe in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

The joy of driving this beautiful '34 will only be equaled by the fun of sharing its many noteworthy features—and the stunning quality of the work—with other like-minded hot-rod fans.
