“Whereas pushing a Z06 always seems dangerous, the Grand Sport feels far less suicidal; the burlier Vette's larger tires and instantly responding, slop-free brakes seem to suit this new model perfectly.” Car and Driver, period review

The strongest selling point of the Corvette Grand Sport? In 2010, Car and Driver saw it this way: “Two seconds—that's the most important figure to know when you're considering the credentials of the… Corvette Grand Sport. Those two ticks represent how much quicker the latest track-fortified Vette is around the hairy 2.9-mile road course at GM's Milford proving grounds than was last year's model with the Z51 handling package. That's a huge gain, one that bites off more than half the Z06's time advantage over the base Vette….' That gain was planned: 'As for the mechanicals, the Grand Sport keeps the base car's 430-hp LS3 V-8 (436 hp with the optional exhaust) and steel frame but gets lots of Z06 bits, including its much larger tires (275/35-18s in front and 325/30-19s in back), wider track, cross-drilled brake rotors (14.0-inch fronts and 13.4-inch rears), and visual add-ons (front air inlet, bulging fenders, and rear brake-cooling ducts) that go more than skin deep, as they reduce aerodynamic lift by half.”

With 0-60 times of between 4 and 4.2 seconds, the Grand Sport is serious business.

Among the model's improvements for 2012, Motor Trend noted: “Chevrolet has updated the Corvette's much-criticized interior for 2012. New seats have been added with optional microfiber inserts... give it a more upscale feel. All models receive a new steering wheel with model-specific badges.”

The 2012 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe in white over tan (under a tan fabric top) offered here is a standout example, able to satisfy collectors and driving enthusiasts alike. One of only 2,268 Grand Sport convertibles produced in 2012, the car's odometer currently shows 33,541 miles in all, fewer than 3,750 miles per year since new. The condition of the car is outstanding in every respect.

The exterior white paint is virtually flawless across the entire car. The gloss retains near-showroom appearance. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) There is no significant damage anywhere on the fiberglass body. The tan fabric convertible top is also undamaged and free of significant wear indications. Dark body trim—including on the grille, air intakes, front spoiler, and wheel-opening trim—has been properly maintained. All cabin glass and lighting lenses are without flaw. The tasteful “Grand Sport” badging above the brake vents lets admirers know this is a special car; all other factory emblems are correctly in place and in excellent condition. Chrome, 5-spoke, 19-inch alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin® Pilot Sport 4S 325/30 Z-rated performance tires. The wheel openings offer clear views of the cross-drilled large brake rotors and silver-painted Corvette/Brembo®-branded calipers.

The interior welcomes driver and passenger with the upgraded and well-bolstered bucket seats, ample tan leather surfaces trimmed with black; leather-surrounded automatic transmission shifter on the carbon-fiber-trimmed center console; black Grand-Sport-logo-embroidered carpet mats protecting the tan carpeting; and a Grand Sport logo embroidered on the center armrest leather. A leather-trimmed, multi-function steering wheel with Grand Sport center emblem frames full analog instrumentation including a 200-mph speedometer. A large infotainment screen and climate controls are located on the center stack. Every interior surface shows virtually as-new condition, further evidence of the prior owners' meticulous care and restrained mileage accumulation.

Under the front-hinged hood (with underside Grand Sport identification), the 6.2-liter, 436-horsepower LS-3 Corvette-branded (in red) V8 dominates a clean, tidy, and somewhat menacing-looking engine bay. Every surface is pristine, every component is properly in place with no signs of modifications from stock. Viewed from below, the chassis shows similar, near spotless, damage-free condition. Factory-mounted protective aero panels remain in place. The car was clearly never subjected to severe weather. The dual-exhaust system with crossover and four, chrome tips out nack is a visual focal point. Surface rust is nearly non-existent.

While the more than 165 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '12 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

The Grand Sport model was designed to hit a real sweet spot with exemplary creature comforts and performance well above base Corvettes. As this beautiful white car makes very clear, the Chevy guys nailed it.
