Offered here is a 1998 Jaguar XJR in British Racing Green over Catkin. This is the Jaguar model that saved Jaguar, curing many of the ills of neglected quality control and expanding the customer base beyond the traditional stuffy bankers and upper-crust society types. This particular XKR has an interesting “travel history.” Ordered new through DeNooyer Jaguar in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the car was shipped to Dubai. Two decades later in 2019, the Jaguar was sold to a friend of the owner's back in Michigan, and made the return trip to the U.S. The XKR has been meticulously maintained and its condition is exceptional in every respect. The sale includes the original factory window sticker (which is also shown in the gallery) listing all standard and optional equipment. The car's odometer shows 29,219 miles, or fewer than 1,300 miles per-year on average since new. (Of course, the mileage from the three ocean-crossings is not included.)

Every automobile color has its fans, but it's hard to argue that British Racing Green is the absolute perfect Jaguar color. Here, the (optional) paint displays a nearly showroom-new, virtually flawless finish: perfectly smooth gloss and deep reflectivity across the entire body, including the painted bumpers front and rear. There are no scrapes or other imperfections, and the car's sheet metal is free of dings, dents, or other damage. Chrome window surrounds, dual-exhaust outlets, and body-side trim is similarly exceptional; the front grille and quad-headlight arrangement is simply beautiful. All cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and free of flaws. All factory badging—notably including the “leaping cat” hood sculpture is in place. Factory 5-spoke, 18-inch aluminum wheels (with Jaguar-cat-logo center caps) are mounted with Pirelli® P-Zero 255/40 all-season performance tires.

Inside, the stylish yet tasteful interior exudes luxurious Jaguar quality. Burled walnut inserts trim sculpted door panels rendered in dark green and “catkin” (a yellow-tinged, platinum color). It can be reasonably argued that no manufacturer matches Jaguar's beautiful wood in their interiors. The same green-wood-catkin combination is carried through across the dashboard and center console. Leather, vertically pleated seat upholstery in catkin with green piping continues the harmonious theme, as does the forest-green cabin carpeting. A four-spoke green steering wheel with wood upper surface frames the 3-gauge instrument cluster set in burled walnut. Climate-control functions and the audio system are located on the stitched-leather console, just ahead of the shift lever for the automatic transmission. Every interior surface (including the spotless trunk) exhibits near-perfect condition and original tactile feel.

Under the forward-hinged hood, the supercharged, 4-liter, 370-horsepower Jaguar V8 looks as it must have on the day the car was first delivered. Nothing is out of place; there have been no modifications; every surface is pristine. Viewed from below, the chassis is straight, complete, clean, and undamaged. Minimal surface rust is present on untreated metal, notably the dual-exhaust-system components.

The car's original data, information, and identification tags and stickers remain properly mounted. The owner's manual and leather pouch as well as a Jaguar-branded car cover are included in the sale together with the aforementioned window sticker.
