“America's other ponycar is high on the 'gotta-have' list.” –Motor Trend, 1967-69 Chevrolet Camaro Buyer's Guide, July 2006

“Anyone who's ever owned a 1967-1969 Camaro will smile when telling you stories about his car--and a look of wistful regret comes over his face when he explains why he had to sell it. For many, the Camaro is the one that got away. Not only was the body style unique, but it came to market with something for everyone: value-minded sixes, mid-level V-8s, and knock-your-socks-off, take-'em-to-the-track small- and big-blocks. This is a big reason why Camaros are now so highly sought and why the legend continues to grow.”

“Bottom Line: One of America's greatest ponycars ever....”

Some 54 years later, the maroon over black 1967 Chevrolet Camaro coupe offered here is a beautifully restored and tastefully upgraded example that's still true to the marque's heritage, distinctiveness, and inherent appeal. The car's odometer shows just 69,549 miles, or roughly just 1,300 miles per-year on average since new. Considerable documentation, including original paperwork and records of sale through the highly respected RK Motors classic-car operation, are included in the sale.

Beginning under the hood, the Chevrolet performance, rebuilt 327 cubic-inch, 325-horsepower V8 is the star of a spotless engine bay. An open-sided chrome air-cleaner assembly properly identifies the engine's size and power by way of a factory “Turbo Fire” sticker. Finned aluminum valve covers, racing-style exhaust headers, bare-metal manifold and the Chevy-red engine-block paint make for a compelling performance impression. All engine-bay surfaces are spotless, and all components are properly mounted. The car's undercarriage continues the “spotless” theme with every component perfectly clean and properly installed. The custom exhaust headers, dual exhaust system, and views of the lower engine and transmission surfaces are all visual focal points. (Be sure to check out the startup video on the GarageKeptMotors site for a sampling of the compelling engine note.)

The car's exterior features perfect-quality maroon metallic paint evenly applied and uniformly glossy. There are no dents or dings on the body, and the panel fit and alignment is excellent. Spoilers on the lower-front-valance and the rear decklid add visual interest and display the same flawless condition. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) The chrome hood trim pieces, fender-well accents, window surrounds, bumpers, door handles, side mirrors, and taillight surrounds all display near-perfect shine. Camaro-script emblems front and rear, Camaro and font-fender engine-size emblems, lighting lenses and cabin glass are all excellent. Stock steel sport wheels with chrome trim rings and “Chevrolet Motor Division” turbo-style hubcaps are mounted with BFGoodrich® Radial T/A raised-white-letter performance tires; both wheels and tires are free of curb rash or other damage.

Inside the car, every surface is free of damage or even signs of abrasion. Vertically pleated, stitched black-vinyl seat upholstery is free of flaws or even minor wear indications, as is the door trim. Black cabin carpeting is similarly flawless. The dashboard is stock and complete with the additions of a steering-column-mounted AutoMeter® 10,000-rpm programmable tachometer and auxiliary AutoMeter water-temperature, oil-pressure, and fuel gauges mounted forward of the center console. The shift lever for the 4-speed manual transmission is located on the center console and topped with a knob engraved with the shift pattern. The factory, black, 3-spoke steering wheel with Camaro emblem center is in place, as is a replacement Chevrolet-bowtie-branded radio in the proper factory location. Door sills with Fisher Body logos show no sign of wear from inattentive passengers dragging their feet upon entry.

The trunk appears in exactly the condition it would have displayed on the day the car was first delivered. The original identification and build tags remain as mounted at the Norwood, Ohio factory. The car's original owner's manual is included in the sale.

While the more than 155 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '67 Camaro in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Motor Trend concluded their buyers-guide take on the early Camaros this way: “Whether it's love of the look of the first-generation F-car, ... or the desire to have something to take to the Burger Biggie on cruise night, the 1967-1969 Camaro is one of the most popular muscle/ponycars out there. Don't let it get away this time.”

Add the quality of the restoration work here, the performance chops, and the overall superb condition of this maroon Camaro, and that last line is even more compelling.
