“Lifting a vehicle can provide many practical and aesthetic benefits” – Myrtle Beach Jeep Website

Here's a list of some of those useful benefits according to the experts: “Enhanced rugged appeal that's sure to bring you positive attention… Higher ride height for greater visibility on the roads….Increased ground clearance for serious off-roading… Enhanced suspension travel (also beneficial for off-roading).”

Add all those benefits to a classic Jeep Wrangler that's been through a respectful frame-off restoration, properly re-powered, and professionally finished in an attention-getting color, and you've really got something.

Offered here is a 1985 Jeep Wrangler CJ7 in lime-green over black. The Wrangler has benefitted from a full restoration—yes, frame-off—with an upgraded engine and components that add to the Jeep's capabilities, yet respect its heritage and purposefulness. The odometer shows a total of 80,802 miles on its odometer, fewer than 2,250 miles per-year on average since new.

The striking lime-green paint was professionally applied, and the results show in an even finish with excellent gloss across all body surfaces. All appropriate areas on the all-steel body—door edges, jambs, interior, and under-hood panels—were properly painted, with trim removed in advance. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Black trim—including lower-side panels, fenders, entry-assist steps, custom front bumper and rear bumper—is similarly fresh and well-finished. A black soft panel covers the front-seat area, and a 4-point, padded roll cage is mounted in the cargo area. Matte-black 15-inch wheels (with lockout hubs in front) are mounted with Mickey Thompson® Baja MTX 35x12.5LT outline-white-letter all-terrain tires.

Inside, the restoration included proper trim panels, door-mounted stereo speakers, black (easy-wash) no-slip floor treatment, the aforementioned roll cage, matching black-vinyl seat covers on the front buckets and rear bench seat, combination front armrest-storage box with four cupholders, and more. In a particularly attractive custom touch, the Jeep's dashboard has been re-crafted in stainless steel with all stock instrumentation and switchgear. In addition, a Sun® Super Tach II has been mounted on the steering column, and Sun® oil-pressure and coolant-temperature gauges have been added to the dash. An AMC-Jeep-branded stock steering wheel is mounted. The B&M® shift lever for the Turbo 350 automatic transmission is floor-mounted.

Under the hood, the engine bay is spotless with all components properly mounted and all hoses and wiring correctly routed. The 350-cubic-inch V8 has added appeal with an open-sided air cleaner and polished-metal valve covers. Viewed from below, the chassis is no less impressive. Lift-kit suspension and steering components, dual-exhaust system with performance mufflers, a Dana 30 front axle, AMC 20 rear axle, and the rust-free lime-green underbody are all noteworthy.

The Jeep's original VIN markings remain in place.

While the more than 135 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '85 Jeep Wrangler in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Out on the road—and especially out on the trails—this Wrangler will not only attract attention, it will prove the value of its comprehensive restoration and upgraded power package. Expect fellow off-roaders to readily acknowledge its capability, to say nothing of its presence.
