“Like the '68 Vette, the 2005 is a profound evolution of the existing car. It's one long stride on the road of continual improvement.” – Car and Driver, February 2004

MotorWeek raved about the '05 Corvette's performance, braking, and ride quality: “Once off the line, the bored out V8 delivers gobs of torque all across the rev band. The tranny's ratios are also perfectly matched to engine output with shorter, easier throws than before. While the chassis and suspension are well suited to any corner you choose to attack, the new 'Vette flows through turns with less of the point-and-shoot feel of its predecessors. It rewards a smooth touch on throttle and steering, only pushing the front or breaking loose out back if your transitions are too abrupt. The speed-sensitive magnetic rack-and-pinion steering lacks feel compared to less exotic designs, but it's quicker and more responsive, if a little nervous. Still, the overall feel is remarkably neutral, with less roll than the C5. Both the Magnetic Ride Control and the standard stability system are seamless in operation, and more importantly, not intrusive.

“Braking is by way of big discs all around with standard ABS and new cooling ducts. They pulled the C6 down from 60 in an average of 120 feet. Like the steering, the brakes lack feedback, but are very progressive, and stability is top notch.

“It rides well, too. Even when set in Sport mode, the ride is firm but without the harshness over broken pavement of earlier versions, and there were no squeaks and rattles in our very early production car.”

Offered here is a 2005 Corvette coupe in stunning and rare Daytona Sunset Orange over black. Showing 61,903 mile on its odometer, the car has traveled fewer than 4,000 miles per-year on average since new. Its Carfax history shows a minor damage incident seven years ago which has long since been fully repaired with no remaining sign of the damage or the repair. The car is a beautiful, very well-kept example of the highly respected C6 series.

The exterior Daytona Sunset Orange paint really is breathtaking. So few '05 Corvettes left the Bowling Green factory in this color, even many Corvette experts who see it react as though it was a custom shade. Across this Corvette's every body panel (including the removable roof panel), the condition of the paint is exemplary: smooth, even, perfectly glossy. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Black trim as around the taillights, lower front grille, and lower rear valance is excellent. Cabin glass (including the large glass rear hatch) and all lighting lenses (including the headlight covers) are clear and free of cracks or fading. There is virtually no sign of wear anywhere on the car's exterior. Chrome, five-spoke factory wheels with crossed-flag center emblems are mounted with Michelin® Pilot Sport 4 AS all-season performance tires, 245/40/ZR18 in front, 285/35ZR20 in the rear.

Inside, the same exceptional, nearly new appearance is evident on every surface. Black leather on the very well-bolstered seats is free of wear marks or even obvious signs of normal use. Door trim, black cabin carpeting, and metallic console surfaces are similarly excellent. The console-mounted shifter for the 6-speed manual transmission shows no wear or surface abrasions. The black steering wheel with crossed-flags center emblem frames the driver-focused analog instrument cluster, with infotainment screen and HVAC controls on the center stack. The superb interior condition is a real tribute to the care given the car by its two prior owners.

Under the front-hinged hood, the 6-liter, LS2 Corvette-branded V8 commands a perfectly clean and completely stock engine bay. No modifications are noted. Viewed from below, with the exception of very light surface rust confined to the exhaust pipes, there is no rust. And there is no damage, and no sign of track use or abuse anywhere. This has been a fair-weather Corvette.

The car's data and identification tags remain as mounted by the factory.

While the more than 135 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '05 Corvette in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.
