1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer CST

(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1970 Chevrolet Blazer K5 on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of the SUV due to third-party website limitations. “The K5 Chevy Blazer is the new hot classic SUV” -Hagerty, January 2019

Offered here is a second-year, highly optioned Blazer in orange with a white roof over black. Its superb condition and extremely low mileage make it a standout, investment-grade Blazer. (The full list of factory-optioned equipment—including power steering and air conditioning--can be found in a photograph of the Blazer's build sticker included in the gallery.)

Outside, the factory correct orange and white paint finish is perfectly smooth across all body panels and displays consistent gloss. The look is handsome, classic, and completely stock. The chrome grille, chrome front and rear bumpers, and chrome body trim (including twin rectangular side mirrors) is all in excellent, condition, free of damage. Body-side and tailgate trim incorporates woodgrain. (To best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finish, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Cabin glass and lighting lenses are similarly in beautiful condition. The white fiberglass cargo-area top ("auxiliary roof" in Chevrolet speak) shows no wear or discoloration; it nicely complements the bright-orange body paint. Badging is complete and the look is entirely: stock--from the blue-bowtie hood emblem upfront to the “Chevrolet” letters set in woodgrain trim on the tailgate, and including fender emblems denoting the model and engine, separate 4-Wheel Drive” front-fender emblems, and the “Chevrolet” lettering in the grille. Wheels feature chrome trim rings and center caps (in the rear displaying “4X4” identification, while the fronts are adjustable Warn® manual-locking hubs). Stock 15-inch steel wheels are mounted with Michelin LTX M/S outline-white-letter off-road tires (with a full-size matching spare in the cargo area).

Inside, the Blazer's door trim and the dashboard are metal, painted in the same orange color as the truck's exterior, reflecting its pickup-truck lineage. The full instrumentation is set in a chrome-trimmed black panel. Graphic markings on the gauges are crisp; instrument needles are unfaded.

An upgraded Realistic® audio head unit is fitted in the factory-radio location (above the slide-lever HVAC controls) with air-conditioning vents and a large glove box completing the dash. The original, black, blue-bowtie-branded steering wheel is in place with the shift lever for the automatic transmission mounted on the column. (The four-wheel-drive transfer-case selector lever is floor-mounted.) Seat upholstery on the front buckets and rear folding “armchair” bench is black vinyl with a premium embossed pattern. Black cabin carpeting extends through to the cargo area. The rear tailgate and lift hatch operate flawlessly and exhibit the same high level of finish and condition as seen across the entire truck.

Under the hood, the Chevrolet 350 cubic-inch V8 is entirely stock and free of chrome or other shiny add-on trim. Surfaces are clean; the entire engine bay is properly ordered. All components—including air conditioning—are correctly mounted. “Plumbing” and wiring organization and routing show how meticulously the Blazer has been cared for over the years. Viewed from below, the condition of the truck's chassis is similarly orderly, and clean. Factory-applied identification and build tags remain in place, as do any number of informational stickers.

While the more than 150 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '70 Blazer in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Finding an original early Blazer in beautiful condition, finished in desirable colors can be a very challenging, needle-in-the-haystack sort of proposition. Fortunately, we found this spectacular orange K5 needle.
