(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1998 GMC Sierra K1500 Pickup on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of the truck due to third-party website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 145 photographs, as well as a short start-up and walk-around video, and a link to the Sierra's one-owner, accident-and-damage-free, low-mileage Carfax history report, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.)

“Like a Rock: … the '88-98 Chevy and GMC pickups are becoming true classics.” – Driving Line, July 2020

Driving Line explained: “When a vehicle becomes a classic, it usually falls into one of two categories. Rare, exclusive, unusual, or popular and iconic. A Ferrari F40 will fall into that first category while a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang will fall into the second. And, as the years go on and vehicles age, we will be welcoming new classics that represent all categories. As we head into the 2020s, the 1988-98 Chevy C/K pickup truck is on its way to becoming a classic in the popular and iconic category. The '88-'98 Chevy truck along with its GMC twin represent a perfect blend of the classic and the modern. From its just-right size to its subtle styling, the GMT400 trucks have earned a lot of fans over the decades.”

Offered here is an excellent, one-owner example of this award-winning value: a 1998 Chevrolet Sierra K1500 regular cab with short bed, 4-wheel-drive in Medium Dark Teal (code 36) over light gray. The truck's odometer shows 134,075 miles, but the Carfax history suggests that the true mileage is in excess of 225,000 miles, likely due to an odometer replacement earlier this year.) This mileage level is still just 10,500 miles per-year on average, well under what Carfax regards as average annual mileage. The overall excellent condition of the pickup shows what can result from the owners' commitment to care and regular servicing in spite of higher mileage.

The pickup's original Teal paint retains excellent shine across all body panels, including the tailgate. (For the best assessment of paint condition, please refer to the close-up photos included in the gallery.) There are no dings, dents, or other damage on the sheet metal. Chrome bumpers, grille trim, and aftermarket twisted-spoke-style, 17-inch aftermarket wheels (mounted with Sailun® Geolander® Terramax AT LT265/75 all-terrain tires), are all in excellent condition. Lighting lenses are clear and un-cracked, and cabin glass is similarly free of damage. All factory emblems—including the gold bowtie emblem in the front grille, bowtie with “1500” model-designation on the front fenders, and “Chevrolet Silverado” emblems on the cabin and the tailgate remain mounted. The “Z71” graphic (designating the truck's off-road package) is also in place on the rear quarter panels. The black rear step-bumper and all other rubber body trim remains in excellent condition.

The pickup's interior is entirely stock. The light-gray textured-fabric upholstery on the bench seat and armrest has been maintained well; only light evidence of wear is present. All other interior surfaces are in good-to-excellent condition, with the exception of the radio's push-button surfaces which are significantly worn. The tan carpeting is clean with some light staining. The truck's black dash features driver-focused, complete instruments (including tachometer) together with controls for the factory radio, and the HVAC controls located on the right hand side, surrounded by black for easy legibility. All instrument and control graphic markings are clear and crisp. Power window and door-lock controls are mounted on the well- maintained door trim. The automatic-transmission shifter is column-mounted while a push-button on the dash controls the four-wheel-drive.

Under the hood, the venerable 5.7-liter V8—the powerplant in millions of GM trucks—is centerstage in a well-maintained, extremely clean engine bay. All related components—including air conditioning--are properly mounted; all wiring and engine-cooling hoses are properly routed. The engine has clearly benefited from regular servicing. Viewed from below, the chassis is clean, complete, and free of damage. Components are properly installed and largely original. Surface rust is present on untreated metal, but there is no indication of body-panel rust.

While the more than 135 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '98 K1500 Silverado in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Teal paint… excellent stock condition… 4 wheel-drive… regular cab… Chevy Silverado. This short-bed pickup checks a lot of boxes on the most-wanted pickup list. The next owner can expect to enjoy, not only the truck, but the admiration of other pickup aficionados.
