“Closing a ('32) Chevy door framed in wood had a favorable and solid 'thunk' while the Ford and had a 'tinny clank.'” – conceptcarz website

The classic-car website went on to provide a rundown of the 1932 model and its appeal: “General Motors marketed the Chevy Confederate as the 'Baby Cadillac' and shared many design similarities to its larger, more expensive, and more exclusive sibling. It wore a Cadillac-style integrated radiator shell, a longer hood, new deep crown front fenders encapsulating 18-inch wire wheels, and chrome-plated rectangular opening doors to cool the engine in the hood sides instead of louvers. Deluxe models, which added approximately $20 to the base price, added chrome-plated door louvers. The list of standard amenities included a tilting non-glare windshield, an adjustable seat, and a built-in sun visor. The six-cylinder engine displaced 194 cubic-inches, had 5.2:1 compression, overhead valves, solid valve lifters, and developed 60 horsepower. The one-barrel downdraft carburetor and counter-balanced crankshaft were new features for 1932, endowing the engine with ten additional horsepower over the previous year. The engine was backed by a three-speed manual synchromesh transmission with a single plate clutch and floor shift controls. This was the first year that synchromesh transmission was offered in all three forward gears.”

Offered here is a fully restored 1932 Chevrolet Confederate (BA) 2-Door that's been in the hands of the same owner for the past 42 years. That owner's meticulous care and commitment to proper maintenance and respectful use is reflected in the car's outstanding, truly stellar condition. The car's odometer shows 74,633 miles.

The exterior royal-blue body color (with gloss black fenders and running boards) is without flaw. All body panels are free of dents, dings, or other damage. The chrome work—on the radiator, headlights (with their gracefully curved twin supports), bumpers, curved door handles, horn, hood opening-vents, taillight surrounds, and not least of all, the Chevrolet "eagle" hood ornament—is all in beautiful condition with little noticeable patina, and absolutely no damage. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and uncracked. Not surprisingly, the Chevrolet emblem on the radiator is pristine. Wire wheels in body-color-matching royal blue feature chrome hubcaps sporting the Chevrolet “bowtie” logo. Firestone®-branded, wide-whitewall tires in the correct size are mounted, including on the rear-bumper spare wheel.

The car's interior features light-tan cloth upholstery with a subtle tweed-like weave. Doors (with pockets) are trimmed in non-tweed, light-tan cloth, as are the rear cabin walls. Seat cushions are fresh and uncreased. Cabin floors are covered in matching light-tan carpets. The simple 3-spoke steering wheel frames pull controls and center instruments on the gloss-black painted dashboard. (The “free wheeling in” knob engages the feature outlined in the above-quoted article.) All gauges have clear lenses. The shifter for the 3-speed, all-synchromesh, manual transmission, and the emergency-brake lever are floor mounted. All the interior surfaces are free of damage.

Under the hood, a spotless 194-cubic-inch “Stovebolt Six” straight-6 is the center of attention in an equally clean and tidy engine bay. Wiring and hoses are properly routed and all components—including the downdraft carburetor—are correctly in place. Viewed from below, the car's chassis is complete and shows no damage.

The car's original data tag remains properly riveted in place on the cowl.

While the more than 125 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this '32 Chevy Confederate in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Owning a classic car of this quality is both an honor and something of a responsibility. Just as this Chevrolet Confederate's past owner has done, the car's new owner will be stewarding this beautiful example for future generations, while enjoying its many charms every single day.
