With the cargo room of a truck, and car-like proportions and styling, the El Camino was appealing to those who needed some extra hauling abilities sometimes, and driving a truck full time wasn't something they wanted to do. Like the earlier iterations of El Camino, this '70 has attractive styling, and isn't as big and boxy as the standard pickup offerings at the time.

This particular El Camino has been updated to have a sportier look and feel rather than that of a utilitarian vehicle. Sure the bed can still be used to haul things, but this car was built to haul down the freeway - or from traffic light to traffic light if you so choose. A completely rebuilt 350ci V8 under the hood, power brakes, power steering, and a tidy interior are just a few of the specs that are notable in making this El Camino a great cruiser.

The car had been painted at some point a number of years ago in a color similar to the Matador Red which was offered by Chevy at the time this car rolled off the assembly line. This car originally left the Kansas City factory finished in Black Cherry. The original lines and trim have been maintained on the exterior. The paint is a basecoat and clearcoat and really shines right up with an even gloss throughout. All trim and chrome shows extremely well, underneath the bed cover is a clean, straight bed that is free of scratches.

The interior hides a few nicely integrated upgrades that were added by our client. Dakota Digital gauges have been neatly integrated into the gauge cluster, a USB charger takes the place of the cigarette lighter, and a Classic Auto Sound radio has been installed in place of the stock radio. When adding the aforementioned items, our client took the whole dashboard assembly out of the car to clean up the wiring behind, clean the dashboard, and add new dash vents. A bench seat finished in black cloth with black carpeting and trim is just the way the car rolled out of the factory. As we've mentioned, the interior is tidy and a great place to be when cruising in this classic El Camino.

Under the hood is a recently rebuilt 350ci V8 that has a number of nice upgrades made to the powerplant. The engine was bored .030 over and now has new pistons, Eagle rods, Speed Pro mild cam, all new valves, new distributor, 8mm spark plug wires, HEI ignition, and FiTech Fuel Injection. In the looks department, chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner, dual plane aluminum intake manifold, and shorty headers, are easy to spot in the tidy engine bay. The numbers matching transmission remains in place in the transmission tunnel.

A nice stance is achieved with a combination of Hotchkiss front lowering springs, and Chevelle coil spring setup in the rear. 20-inch front and 18-inch rear Ridler chrome wheels are wrapped in sticky tires, and help to make this classic more irresistible to the eyes. The underside is very clean and features a number of new parts including a pair of Flo-Pro mufflers, new brake lines, new fuel tank, inner and outer tie rods, and stabilizer bars.

This is an awesome classic Chevy that's been gone through front to back with a number of great features and upgrades. This car is ready for you to enjoy, and turn some heads while doing so.
