“Bronco's the sure-footed way to get wherever you want to go.” -1969 Ford Bronco dealer brochure
The brochure writers continued: “Bronco's built to go… through snow, mud or shifting sands, up ground that's too rough for anything but the toughest. Bronco's four-wheel drive gives you the traction! Big Six or V-8 engines give you the power! Underneath, Bronco has lots of ground clearance and a tough, protected underside. Wide-track Mono-Beam front suspension makes Bronco stable on hillsides, smooth riding, and easy handling no matter where you go to work or play!” The brochure language was appealing back in the day.
Offered here is a fully restored and upgraded '69 Bronco in a lovely shade—Boxwood Green—over black. Needless to say, the popularity of first-generation Broncos has surged dramatically in recent years. The result has been a booming business in restorations. The range of quality in these restorations can make comparisons difficult, but at the very top of the list of restorers is Maxlider Brothers Customs of MacLean, Illinois. (If you have any doubt, search them on the internet.) The '69 Bronco offered here was treated to a full-up Maxlider Brothers restoration, and the result is an exceptional build ready for its next owner's adventures. Details of the build—some printed here and two full pages included in the gallery—showcase the components and professional upgrades lavished on this original Bronco Sport. It's an amazing list.
On the exterior, the Boxwood Green paint—a terrific choice—has been professionally applied; the finish is uniformly glossy and free of even a hint of wear or damage. Added fiberglass fender flares are perfectly incorporated. “Ford” identification, offset on the tailgate and centered in the front grille (and the front grille itself), are painted in ivory. Original emblems are properly in place. Body-surround stock chrome trim strip is free of dents or dings; chrome bumpers front and rear are perfect. All lighting lenses—including on the upgraded projector headlights—are crystal-clear; windshield glass is free of any imperfections. A roll cage in black is mounted in the cargo area; the truck comes with a black fabric custom soft top. Gloss-black Fuel Revolver® 15x10 wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich 33x12.5R15 KO2 all-terrain tires. Every exterior surface on the Bronco appears brand new.
Inside, more upgrades are evident wherever you look. Dash top and trim, black vinyl upholstery on upgraded Bestop Trailmax 2® bucket seats, black carpet from Tom's Bronco Parts, seat belts anchored to the roll cage, JBL speakers, Retrosound® stereo, new center console, Classic Instruments® gauge cluster, new floor-shift boot, tilt steering column, and more… all beautifully upgraded and perfectly integrated. Every surface in the Bronco's interior—every control feature, every bit of upholstery, everything—is virtually perfect in feel and function.
Underneath the hood is the rebuilt Ford 302-cubic-inch V8 wearing custom “Ford Racing” valve covers in black. Custom exhaust headers hint at the power. All engine-bay components—including air conditioning, aluminum radiator, and hydraulics—are properly installed and organized. The engine bay is a treat for the eyes and a showcase for how the engine and its components should look. Underneath the Bronco, it's the same story: the suspension, drive-train, steering system, disc brakes, and exhaust systems are equally impressive; everything is clean-as-can-be, and perfectly installed. This truck will draw a crowd.
The Bronco's original VIN tag is still riveted to the body.
This beautifully restored and perfectly upgraded '69 Bronco is faithfully presented from every angle (including from below) in the more than 180 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available at the GarageKeptMotors site. That said, we always encourage in-person, up-close inspections by interested parties—or their representatives—at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. We ask only that appointments be made in advance by phone or email so that we can devote our full attention to our visitors and to this amazing Bronco. Our showroom is not open to the public. We welcome any questions by email or phone.
It's hard to imagine a first-generation Bronco with more to offer than this Maxlider Brothers restoration. Every aspect of the build is first-class, and the rare and exceptional Boxwood Green paint is a pure delight. We envy the next lucky owner of this best-in-class Bronco.
