The BMW writers continued: “For 2008, a host of refinements enable these new models to maintain their class-leading positions. Subtle exterior changes enhance the look of both the Coupe and Convertible, setting them apart from previous models while still maintaining the 6 Series' distinctive profile. Revised lighting increases the cars' visibility front and rear…. Interior changes make the 6 Series Coupe and Convertible even more luxurious than before, with upgrades to the standard and optional leather. The Convertible's interior also adds leather with BMW's new Sun Reflective Technology, which significantly reduces heat gain from sunlight. … a new Sport Automatic transmission… with quicker, more responsive shifting and even more driver control. New technological features also make their appearance for '08… Lane Departure Warning system…. Active Cruise Control becomes even more convenient via a new Stop and Go feature, which enables the system to function even in heavy traffic. Active Cruise allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop without losing its setting, then accelerate back up to set speed with only a touch of the accelerator pedal from the driver. A new Premium Sound Package adds a USB Adapter for an iPod or MP3 player. And BMW's leading-edge iDrive system adds a row of 'favorites' buttons… which can be used for anything from radio-station presets to pre-programmed destinations with the 6 Series standard navigation system.

Clearly, the 2008 650i models took all of what made the earlier cars such favorites, and upgraded it, without dramatically altering the car. “Sticking with a winner,” as they say.

Offered here in triple-black (fabric top, exterior paint, and interior furnishings) is an extremely well-maintained, two-owner, 650i convertible. As its Carfax report documents, the car has been meticulously and consistently maintained at BMW authorized dealerships. Showing just 14,000 original miles, just 2,000 miles per-year on average, this is a gently used, adult-owned, German-manufactured luxury performance car. Its pristine condition bears that out.

The car's exterior black metallic paint is in showroom condition with no damage, no obvious indications of wear, and no fading. Lower-body surfaces—including front and rear fascia—are similarly damage-free. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are crystal-clear and entirely free of cracks. BMW emblems are perfect. Five-spoke, polished aluminum 18-inch wheels show no curb-rash and wear premium performance tires. The car's power-operated convertible-top fabric is free of any signs of significant wear. When deployed, the top's design includes handsome “wings” to the rear for a hardtop-like appearance.

The condition of the car's interior is every bit as impressive as the exterior. Leather abounds on the front buckets and twin rear occupant seating and shows only light and normal creasing on the seat-bottoms. There is no damage, no rips or tears anywhere on the leather. BMW is known for the comfort of its seats, and the 650i certainly stands at the top of that standard. The black dashboard features driver-focused, analog instrumentation behind the BMW-branded leather-covered steering wheel with thumb controls for audio and phone. (The steering wheel and the seats are heated.) Beneath the information and navigation system display, center-stack controls monitor audio and HVAC. The car's trunk appears never to have carried any cargo.

Under the hood, the 360-horsepower, normally aspirated, 4.8-liter V8 is an impressive sight. The engine bay is as spotless as the rest of the car attesting to the quality of BMW-dealership service it has consistently received. All components are properly mounted and there is no indication that any aftermarket modifications have been made. Viewed from below, the car's undercarriage shows no sign of damage whatsoever and share's the engine bay's cleanliness.
