At the time that this sleek Coupe DeVille was released, Cadillac's advertising boasted about consumer acceptance of the cars, and leading the way with luxury. The DeVilles were class leading cars thanks to luxury options, comfort, and smooth V8 engines. 1977 was Cadillac's 75th Anniversary and was the first year of the 5th Generation DeVille.

Just like the previous generation DeVilles, elegant styling was the name of the game with the 5th Generation DeVille. Chrome bumpers, chrome grille, metallic paint colors, and stylish tail lights are just a few of the exterior highlights. This particular car also has a Half-padded vinyl roof with opera lamps (Cabriolet Option), and features the 3-sided wrap around tail lights, which were at first a '77-model-only offering.

The inside of the car is plush and luxurious, finished in a color that very closely matches the exterior. Wood veneer trim, and leather bench seats are the main focal points inside the car.
Interior features include cruise control, power windows, updated vintage look radio, and climate control. The interior shows well other than some slight fading on the carpeting, dashboard, and door panels. Inside this American luxury car is the place to be.

Under the hood is a 425ci V8 mated to a HydraMatic transmission. The engine offered a rather low horsepower rating for its size, but did put out a good amount of torque, allowing the car to accelerate briskly. Simple, smooth Cadillac wheel covers are mounted to steel wheels with white stripe tires. A drive in this big, luxurious coupe is relaxing. Soft suspension, soft leather seats, a V8 that whisks you along - it's a nice experience. Cruising along in the lap of luxury in this vintage DeVille sounds pretty good to us!
