2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE

In the past decade or so, Range Rover has become a favorite across several automotive target markets. Luxury buyers, sporty SUV buyers, off-roading enthusiasts, and—as the US News honor underscores—the largest of the segments: families looking for a capable SUV that can serve as a luxury workhorse. US News wasn't the only media outlet that noted the Range Rover delivered across the board: “Luxurious, powerful, capable, stylish, and relatively efficient, the ... Range Rover Sport takes the crown as the most well-rounded and all-round enjoyable vehicle in the full-size luxury 4x4 market,” wrote the DigitalTrends reviewer, going on to add, “Many automakers hold luxury, driving dynamism, and off-road capability at the heart of their brand identity. None execute it like Land Rover. And none of its vehicles better exemplify that… than the Range Rover Sport.”

The Range Rover Sport HSE offered here was delivered new in Las Vegas, Nevada to its first and only owner. In the ensuing five years, the SUV has been properly serviced, including by authorized Land Rover dealers, and now shows a total of 60,267 miles “on the clock,” as the British say. That's roughly 12,000 miles per year, 20% below what's considered average. The condition of the vehicle bears out the excellent care given it by its prior owner.

Outside, the white-painted body panels and black-painted roof retain their near-showroom shine. There is no evidence of abuse, parking-lot dings, or the like. The sole body repair recorded in the Carfax resulted from a minor mishap, and competent repair left no sign of it remaining. Wheels, tires (new in 2019), emblems, lenses, and cabin glass all display virtually no wear. The expansive extended sunroof glass is perfect.

Under the hood, the supercharged V6 engine and related components are all in good order. Servicing records are included. Most recently, the braking system front and rear has been renewed with new brake pads and rotors. Included in that 2019 service event was an oil and filter change as well. The engine runs quietly delivering 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque without drama, and the eight-speed automatic transmission retains what one reviewer called its “butter-smooth” operation. Of course, the power is delivered to all four wheels by way of Land Rover's unstoppable Terrain Response system ensuring safety for the occupants and confidence for the driver.

Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear once called the interior of the Range Rover the greatest interior on the planet, and this Range Rover Sport bears that out. Another reviewer noted “its interior is that perfect blend of cutting-edge British design mixed with sensible tech and restraint.” The use of both light tan and black surfaces on this vehicle is appealing and avoids a monochromatic boredom. Switchgear, driver-information, and navigation all operate properly. Control surfaces show virtually no wear, Seating is first-class front and rear. As with its exterior, the interior of this SUV displays the result of excellent owner care. No sign of abuse or careless use is present; even the often worn step-over door sills are damage free. (“Kids… remember to step over, not on!”) From an absence of scrapes and abrasion, the rear cargo area appears never to have actually carried much cargo.

While the more than 80 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this Range Rover Sport in detail, we encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance, or get in touch by phone or email if you have any questions.

Declaring it their “Editor's Choice,” DigitalTrends summarized this exceptional model: “The Range Rover Sport looks like a big, bossy full-size Range Rover, has the heart of a sports car, handles like a luxury sedan, and delicately sips fuel like the Queen at teatime.”

And we couldn't have improved on their final piece of advice: “If you're wanting a luxury 4×4 that can literally do everything from date-night to the Dakar, you really only have one choice: The Range Rover Sport."
