Hot Rods and Customs are always unique and one of a kind thanks to the vision of the builder. There are so many common bases with which people build hot rods or customs. Model A's, Ford Coupes, Mercury Coupes, are common, but what about a Graham? Many people have not even heard of a Graham to begin with, let alone a custom Graham which has been treated to a highly detailed restoration with lots and lots of custom touches. Take the time to look at the work done to this rare car, it's all been done to the highest quality, and with styling that was well thought out and understated.

As we learned about this special car, we were able to look through the 13 pages of handwritten and detailed notes used to keep track of the parts and supplies. The project was started in late 2005 and the notes end 3 years later, but we all know that a project car like this is never finished. Only when an owner moves on and sells the vehicle, is it not on their mind. So often the folks who build vehicles like this and keep track of everything, are those that really do things right. They're the people who build for the love of the build and don't get so hung up on what it cost to do. The process of the build and the end product is what is important. The end product that you see in our photos is really impressive.

This unique Graham is finished in a Honda green metallic that really pops, and accentuates the curves and chrome trim. The paint is glossy, even, and shows depth throughout. The surrounding trim looks new from the headlight bezels to the elaborate chrome logo on the trunk. The large grille flanked by the headlights announces the car's presence, and gets your eye moving along to see all the details. Those split bumpers and turn signals integrated into the headlight pedestals are just the way the Graham left the factory. The absence of chrome in other areas of the car and the low roofline are not a result of chopping and smoothing. The Crusader was an economy car when they were produced.

Inside the car is where we see many of the custom touches, this car doesn't have an economy feel any longer. Contrasting light tan color was chosen for the interior and leather was the chosen material throughout. Newer seats have been wrapped in leather and the Graham logo has been embroidered on the seat backs in dark green. A Grant steering wheel resembles a Ford “Banjo” steering wheel, and Classic Instruments gauges provide a vintage look, and contrasting color to the green dashboard. Alpine stereo components have been hidden to keep a vintage look throughout. Vintage Air A/C components allow for a cool comfortable ride on hot days. The interior is comfortable and very nicely finished.

Mounted between those curvy front fenders is a crate Chevrolet 350 V8 mated to a 700R4 automatic transmission. As you might expect, the engine has been dressed up a bit, and is neatly installed in the engine bay. Polished valve covers match the air cleaner cover, breather cover, catch can, and other aluminum pieces. Other engine bay details consist of 4BBL carburetor, headers, and braided stainless steel lines and hose covers. The engine can be better heard thanks to a custom exhaust system that culminates in polished exhaust tips. A look under the car reveals modern suspension components - no leaf springs here. Coilover suspension on all 4 corners allows for adjustment, a Mustang steering rack takes the place of the original steering rack, and urethane bushings have been used throughout. The underside is solid and clean, with all components having been integrated neatly.

This car is a labor of love built by someone who enjoyed the build process, and took all the details into consideration throughout the project. You'll be sure to turn heads and get plenty of questions about what a Graham is, and about this car as a whole. That's the fun in having an impressive, and unique car like a custom Graham.
