This classic Benz has a stately look as it rolls down the road. It wasn't a top of the line Mercedes when new, but the elegant styling gives this car a presence on the road. Well cared for over the years with a documented history, and only two previous owners, this car is a sweet deal at our asking price.

This 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SE was sold new from Mercedes-Benz Autohaus Saginaw in Michigan, so it has been a Michigan car since new. The car is finished in blue over blue MB-tex and powered by a 2.8L inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission.

The body is finished in blue (903 H), and it looks as though the car was repainted in the original color decades ago. Despite a more recent paint job than the Mercedes factory paint job, as you can see in the pictures the paint is showing its age in a few places. The body is solid, as well as the underside of the car. Bumpers, chrome trim, grille, show well and all trim is present. Factory 14” steel wheels wear painted and polished covers as well as a set of newer tires.

The comfortable and spacious interior is trimmed in dark blue with “MB-Tex” material on the seats, door panels, and dash. The dash which houses a Becker radio, and shiny wood trim shows very well. Polished trim surrounding buttons, switches, and vents gives the interior a fancy feel.

A 2.8L M130 inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission powers this Benz. Recent service completed by a local service facility included a new heater hose and coolant flush, transmission service, front brake caliper, brake hose, brake pads, and brake fluid flush. The suspension was upgraded with Bilstein rear springs, new spring pads, and the rear compensator, which prevents (or when bad can be the cause of) the dreaded sagging rear end was replaced.

This classic Benz with its elegant styling has a presence on the road as it goes through traffic, and could have a presence in your garage. With lots of documentation, recent maintenance, a solid body, and clean interior this car is a great vintage Benz for our asking price.
