Before John DeLorean created his legendary car line in the early 80s, he was the VP for Pontiac and in 1967, he unveiled to the world: the Firebird. In the first year of production, 82,560 Firebirds were produced; 67,032 were hardtop coupes and 15,528 were convertibles. Of the 15,528 convertibles, 12,887 had an 8-Cylinder motor and only 2,641 came with a 6-Cylinder. Therefore, this car being the first year of Firebird production plus being powered by the 6-Cylinder engine, makes it one of about 2,700 cars ever built - extremely rare.

According to the Pontiac Historic Services documentation, this car was purchased brand new from Mowry Buick Pontiac Inc of Manistee, Michigan. The car was ordered in Burgundy (code N) with an Ivory (code 1) soft top and a Red (code 258) interior, which was changed to black when the car was restored. The car is powered by the original PMD 230ci/165hp 1bbl OHC 6-Cylinder motor (code 331) mated to the original column-shifted automatic transmission (code 77Y). The car came from the factory with Push Button Radio (code 342), “Wonder Touch” Power Steering (code 501), Power Convertible Top (code 544) that works, and the Custom Trim Option (code 554), which offered Deluxe Wheel Discs, Deluxe Steering Wheel, Front and Rear Wheel Opening Moldings, Custom Seat-Door-Quarter Trim, Dual Horns, and Instrument Panel Assist Grip. The latest and greatest at the time from sports car Firebird.

This is a remarkable vehicle - you'll be hard pressed to find another with this drivetrain because so few were made. A great collector car at a very reasonable price. It starts on command, runs well, and is a smooth driver. Mileage is also believed to be original. Still stylish 50 years later, just the way Mr. DeLorean intended.
