Falling sales and pleas from his staff finally convinced Henry Ford to retire the Model T in 1927. Workers and factories sat idle for six months while Ford retooled for the replacement car. The all-new Model A was more mechanically advanced and stylish than its predecessor. The Model A was produced from 1928-1931 with Ford selling 5 million Model A's during the 3-year production run of this model. new features for 1929 included Twolite lenses in cup-shaped headlamps with a matching taillamp, pushbutton instead of pistol-grip handbrake lever actuation and a black steering wheel to replace the early, dark red version. The yellow finish with brown trim on this car has been well applied over professionally executed bodywork. There are a few minor stone chips on the leading edges of the front fenders and some wear typical of opening and closing the bonnet, however, the paint has been lovingly maintained and the finish presents with a brilliant shine. The black vinyl top was restored and fits well after a professional installation. The chrome bumpers and related stainless were all restored during the restoration process and still exhibit a deep luster. The optional radiator stone guard is present, and this vehicle features the rear-mounted spare tire and period-correct removable trunk rack. Keep in mind that during this time in automotive history, most roads were dirt or gravel and the most efficient way to travel was still the railroad. The trunk could be removed and loaded onto the train, and the trunk rack could be folded up. The trunk also served as a great place for temporary storage to carry items such as goods vintage owners picked up from the General Store. Eventually, as automotive travel evolved and the roads improved, a removable trunk was no longer needed, rear storage space was incorporated into the bodies of cars and the name trunk remained as the label for this storage space. This Model A features the popular rear rumble seat option as well.

Inside the vinyl interior has been accurately restored and shows little wear since restoration. The vinyl floor covering has been well-maintained and presents with no rips or seam pulls. Turn signals did not become standard on automobiles until after WWII, and this vehicle has had a period correct kit that converted it to a more current system and the control is mounted on the steering control.

Under the hood, the engine compartment presents well and has been well maintained since the restoration. A 6-volt alternator has been added to help maintain consistent charging system operation. The original generators on Model A's required the owner to adjust the unit output depending on usage and load on the system. Consider if you turn on the headlights the load on the charging system increases and the generator would need to be adjusted to increase output in response to the additional draw that would otherwise drain the battery. The addition of an alternator automatically makes the adjustment for the user.

Underneath this Model A was accurately assembled with mechanical brakes and cantilever shock absorbers. This car has been driven so there are some chips here and there, as well as some oil seepage at the engine block, transmission, and rear differential, but the chassis is solid and clean, and ready to roll on a cruise. The vehicle rolls on factory steel wire wheels with era-correct white wall tires. The wheel/tire combination has been high-speed balanced reducing any vibration when cruising on modern asphalt roads.

This car is accurately restored and presents much as it would have in the late 20s. The subtle upgrades will make operating this antique vehicle even more of a pleasure to drive and do not affect the value of this antique.
